I haven't listened to Tiger Players live radio commentary much this season as the TV channels here provide live Hull City games virtually every week. But I had to listen to the Everton game as it wasn't being carried on TV. I was dreading listening to the incoherent "Swanny" and Burnsie discussing everything but the actual game in progress, but was happily surprised by a decent commentary by Brian Hughes and another pundit, both of whom focused on the game and not their previous night out unfunny antics. If we are relegated, as seems increasingly likely, us poor expats will have to rely on Tiger Player or uncertain streams. At least the departure of the awful Burns/Swann will make that easier to listen too. Good riddance!
I had Tiger player on a few matches ago, and was far better than having the clown Swanny telling us all about what he did at the weekend and what he was eating. Fagan was summarising and proved to be a lot more insightful. Burnsy was quite often ok but he tended to get sucked in with Swan.
We listen to Burnsy and Swanny for the very reasons that some people don't. Radio and TV coverage of football has become so serious over the last few seasons and their commentary is more like two ordinary guys who go to the match to enjoy the football, support the team of their choice, have a pie and a pint and maybe a night out before or after away games. Surely that's what an awful lot of supporters are like - it's what they do. No criticism implied of those who enjoy the 5Live or Sky commentaries - we just prefer the informal way it's done on Humberside. Two sides to everything I guess.
Burnsey is a sports journalist? he is also a wum... he reminds me of Adrian Durham from TalkShite! he says things to intentionally piss people off, then they call up and argue their point. then that way they keep the conversation going.
I just listened to last nights Sports talk, and they had on the managers for the 3 clubs, McCann/Jolly & Hurst. That must be the first time a manager from City has been live on RH for many a long year apart from game days? When asked about incomings, it doesn't look as if another striker will be forthcoming, as he seems happy with what he has.
