Nobody should be forced to wear a poppy and no one should be forced not to where one ...seems so simple till politics enters the picture .
Most times politics in sport has ALL to do with politics and little to do with right , wrong or sport .

Failing to see any relevence Matt to my post but in my opinion WW1 and WW2 were fought to stop a group of countries from taking over the entire world and weeding out probably a billion people.

No relevance, I was asking for you POV, I'd say that initially it was political reasons but then the moral issue came to the fore which transcended any political argument .

All wars are political. WW1 started by the assassination of the archduke of Austria. We entered that war because the Germans attacked France through Belgium and Britain could not allow the Germans to control Belgium ( too close to home) WW2 was both Political and Moral the attack on Poland and then the Holocaust.

Reasons for wars are complicated but neither was in response to a group of countries taking over the entire world.
Both began about the stability of parts of Europe and Nazi expansion in WW2. They initially expanded as Britain entered conflicts and drew in the Commonwealth (we were never alone). Japan increased their expansionist plans and made the mistake of attacking a US base in disputed territory.
Had these been in any way moral Britain could have declared war on Spain in the early 30s. (My father joined the RAF in 1936 fully expecting aware with Spain.)
Many argue Britain was happier to see a strong Germany in the 1930 which would quell Russian ambitions in the east.

But, FIFA had an existing rule.
If the countries don't like those rules they should opt out.

I wouldn't dispute most of that Bob. But I think the argument is that FIFA have interpreted the poppy as a political symbol when it's clearly not.

Its easy for a player to get around it just have the poppy inked or tattooed on to the skin. The Skin of a player is not part of the basic equipment. And look at all the tattoos on players anyway FIFA does not vet them.

When FIFA opened the door for politics , it opens a window for players to respond in a political way ... and players do .
