Was interested on your thoughts on Martin Bain. Yes, Moyes has taken the brunt of the storm but can't help feeling this guy should be feeling the heat too. Obviously no one in the January transfer window so it was going to be a big ask after that for survival. Can't help feeling he threw Moyes under the bus. The trip to New York and then the club announcing lay offs surely that would have come from his go ahead. Now we are asking Moyes and Walter Smith to advise on the potential new manager? What about this Wilson guy he appointed to look at all the aspects of how the club is run internally? Bain in his role is sitting uneasy with me at the moment. Thoughts?
Such an incredible culture of blame amongst Sunderland fans. Incredible. One scapegoat gone, onto the next. We need q fast moving revolving door installing at the club.
In the same context that we want stability and keeping a manager who had clearly lost the plot.....cost us place in the Premier League on that reasoning...
Too soon to tell. Proof will be in the pudding. When we see the accounts under his helm we'll have a proper idea.
What's to say he hasn't already said? We know our situation, we know what he's trying to do. He needs time.
I was referring to cutting costs, he's already let go a lot of non essential staff I believe. Player contracts having relegation clauses put in is down to him too I think.
Sounds good. I know he is not held in high esteem up at Rangers but he may have learnt from his mistakes, Iets hope so.
The biggest source of revenue the club brings in is from the TV deals hence staying in the Premier League. Yes, he can cut here and there which he is doing. Obviously playing contracts with relegation clauses needs tidying up as Rodwell slipped through the net but still this is all peanuts to the hit we take on relegation. Not changing manager prior to the January window or buying then was a in a sense committing us to relegation. If his financial plan was to drop down to the championship and financially restructure which is what it appears to have been that is a massive gamble. I quite believe this could have be done while staying in the EPL....ffs we get a 100 million for being bottom. Surely that is something to work with...
He's less than a year into what will surely have to be a minimum of a 3 year plan. He's in the process of sorting out the ****e behind the scenes where we are haemmoraging money, let's at least give the bloke a chance. To say that Bain threw Moyes under the bus is a ridiculous statement, IMO.
What he couldn't buy a striker in January until a couple of hours before the window closes? I'm sure that is what Moyes wanted....lol. Maybe look in Bain's direction...
Its our reliance on the TV money that has screwed us though. I believe part of Bain's remit is to get us making money on the things that successful clubs make money on, such as player sales, flogging merchandise, and sponsorship deals. All areas in which we've been notably ****.
Its the way we wasted it that screwed us, in particular the boardroom personel, Maggie May springs to mind but she is not the only one.
Well, yeah, but all the clubs that are run properly make a profit on other things besides the TV money. We don't. To be successful we can't just rely on that.
Not for much longer certainly, but an awful lot of money has been lost by bad management. Will Bain change things for the better, we will see.
So you're saying this whole thing was a conspiracy to get Moyes out, headed up by Martin Bain? Not buying it at all mate.
