Conte has already said that is ridiculous, he says people should look at who caused the problem and blame them <ok>

    Exactly!!

Last year it was Spuds & this year it was City. Both those teams lost the plot & instigated.
This will be adding insult to injury!!

Stan/Diego -- I'm 100% with you on this! I am simply quoting an article that has appeared in today's Daily Mail.(PS. I don't read this paper, but this has been put onto a website). Please God there will be common sense when the judgement is made.

I would suggest that there will be no points deduction, as this would be punishing a certain entity for the crimes committed by another. You could argue that it all comes under the Chelsea umbrella but teams, players, managers, owners, change all the time and proving the players concerned were only reacting to a situation created by another should be easily proved with video evidence. It is the first instance this season we have been involved in a fracas, if you could call it that, as fracas suggests there were two teams aggressing, so any governing body will see it as it is, just a reaction to a needlessly violent affront to one of our own players. I know the FA are capable of some ridiculously stupid things but they would not get away with this, and would not risk a challenge in the courts that they would surely loose.

Abu, that makes good sense to me! As you rightly say, the FA can often misinterpret the facts and impose the inappropriate sanctions. I'm sure our club would not take a points penalty lying down, and challenge any such action in court!

It was a crap through ball. This is one of those occasions where the scorer should get the goal and the assist. The pass put Costa nowhere, the goal was entirely down to him (well 5% defender). Fabregas acknowledged as much after the game to be fair to him.

I see your point. However, Fabregas atleast lumped it into no man area. Otherwise, Costa wouldn't have reached it.

Am also wondering, just what can a football club do to control it's players when they are on the field?
Seems stupid to sanction the club, the individual players should be held responsible for their actions.
The club can talk to the player afterwards, and give him a rollicking or fine or whatever, but what can a club do in the moment, to control people on the pitch.

    It's a ****ing stupid rule.

Was Conte and Guardiola supposed to run on to the pitch and rugby tackle Chalobah and Fernandinho and restrain them?
How can they control their players exactly?
Isn't the banning of said players punishment enough for player and club?
If they are repeat offenders, then you increase the ban each time, like they do with Violent conduct red cards.
They will soon get the message.

I think you're confusing common sense with the actions of the FA!!

You're absolutely right. Very hard for the clubs to do a lot about it and in reality even a 22 man 'brawl' is usually just a load of handbags with 3 or 4 who then perhaps deserve punishment and can be dealt with individually if need be.

It's a bit ridiculous we even get punished for the Spurs and City ones which were clearly instigated by the other teams involved. In the Spurs game they had a record 9 players booked yet we got a bigger fine.

    It's ****ing crazy.
Is the club supposed to have some sort of premonition that there will be a mass brawl, and pro actively punish players before the event?
    Makes 0 sense.
These ****ing idiot players should all be aware that they aren't allowed to slap, punch, elbow, stamp etc. Every players knows the rules of football.
If they break the rules they get punished.
I doubt any manager sends his players out with a mandate to start a fight or injure a player.

We got a 100k fine, city got a 35k fine. Better than what it could have been but still ridiculous considering what happened and they got two players sent off to our one.

Common sense isn't common it would seem.

yes. None of our players are sent off.
Only Chalobah got booked. No sending off.

Same last year against Spuds. Dembele was sent off and none of our players got sent off.

They are not lacking common sense, but making some ridiculous rules etc to derail our season.

Are you Mystic Meg? Tony Pulis got his WBA playing time wasting tactics from about the first minute and only when Diego Costa got a fantastic goal did they start to play football in the hope of salvaging something. The WBA 10 man defence was awful to watch and it killed the first half and most of the second half as well. A great result for us but the most dire match I've watched in years thanks to WBA's tactics.

More of the same again from Sunderland.

We can expect lot of 1-0 or 0-0 at this rate :(

Our guys need to be more clinical to avoid 0-0s.

Shouldnt have the same problem against Palace, they leak goals easier than Sunderland and a DANG sight more than West Brom, whose defense has been decent this season.
Palace have more about them in attack than either Sunderland or West Brom though.
Think this will be a 1-2 to us.

Palarse 0 Chelsea 1 - that's now 11 games on the spin. The official site says it's now a Chelsea record for the most consecutive league wins in a single season. <cool>
