I went to the game with an Everton fan. We were in the west stand but nothing was said. He jumped up briefly when they scored. Big deal. Surely people can be adult about it?
It's a sad state of affairs when you can't go and watch a game of football with a friend who supports the other team. I went to the Everton game with an Everton fan, there were no incidents, no one got annoyed, we just watched the game, no one around us even knew he was an Everton fan. On the way out someone overhead him talking about the game and figured him out, they just shook his hand and said good game. It's a shame football fans believe they need to be segregated.
I agree. I think the point is the rules are there for all clubs and if any of us went into a home end and celebrated, or wore colours, then the stewards would kick us out, whereas our stewards seem to treat the home fans like ****s in such situations. I wonder where they get that approach to customer service from?
Okay, that's just one geezer and on the face of it shouldn't really be an issue. What happens if 500 people all want to take one of their mates who supports the other team? Should that be okay as well? It's not difficult to just arrange to meet up before and after. Don't disagree that it's a shame that fan segregation is necessary but nevertheless it is and always has been.
I took my future son in law to a game last season.Got him a ticket next to mine in the west. Introduced him to all around us before the match and got on with it.
We wouldn't have a problem if we filled our stands! But the words obviously got around the other clubs!
When, or if, we play Everton again, go in the Gwladys Street End with your mate and let us know how adult they are about it if City score and you jump up. Or if the stewards take your side.
Yes, if only we were like rugby fans and could all stand together in peace and harmony. please log in to view this image
Football fans don't necessarily feel they need to be segregated. I understand all stadium rules are the same. Go and ask the premier league. For me personally I do not want away fans in home areas as I want the owners shown up for what they are doing. Any 'additional' away fan in the home end impacts on the attendance. It has always been and always will be. And when the chuckle brothers finally throw in the towel I look forward to the home stands being full of City fans. I also like Castro's response by the way which goes for most of the grounds you might visit.
Ground regulations don't allow it. Any other ones you wouldn't mind being ignored, people smoking sat next to you, flares, musical instruments etc... Or do you want every ground regulation enforcing except this one?
Hence I didn't take him into the North or East Stand. I was one of the few vocal supporters in the area we were in.
As already stated, you try it at any other ground and see how you get on. I blagged the swankiest of corporates for the Emirates last season and when we took the lead I got a ****load of abuse, despite the fact I didn't celebrate and they'd just overheard me talking during the game. And that's at the Emirates, the ponciest of all grounds.
Tottenham say that all areas except the away section are only for Tottenham fans. Does this mean that neutrals are not supposed to go?
