I'd rather us have another go for Townsend, take a risk on Aarons or go for someone else. I don't think he's done enough to warrant that much money spent on him.
Depends on the funds Rafa gets. As a (back-up/development) squad player Atsu could be decent to have as a option. But if this is the club's view on a first team signing for the Prem then we are fooked.
If they sign an additional winger as well I'll be very happy with this. I think he improves our squad. Great option for stretching games with his pace late. Plus £6.5m isn't much in the new money days.
I think that's great business. Atsu's still young, but has the ability to change games. As usual it's about end product, which he struggles with, but his finish vs Preston and assist against Brighton proves he can do the business. Seems like a decent lad and also just being pragmatic he's a superstar in Africa, so commercially or for player draw it's a fab piece of business.
With Atsu, I think in the Prem he will be a better option than Gouff (who will leave). I'd actually like to think we could have: Atsu Ritchie Townsend AN OTHER DECENT WINGER
Dat. He's flashy, a decent finisher and gets a few goals, but not strong or quick enough and not good enough at crossing. Has been nothing more than average this season, won't cut it in the Prem. oh and I see that mackem dick Micheal Gray's saying we should go for Sturridge, hahahahahaaha.
Think he's oryt for 6.5 mill in the recruitment drive, get a better LB behind him and he can focus purely on attack, wouldn't say he's on sameobi's level mind. Nobody is
You're right - he is slightly behind. Plus he is free and will be on less wages so we can use the £6.5M where it is more importantly needed. As for those mentioning Aarons, you need to forget him,
Him and Aaron's as back up for Ritchie and another winger (A.T.) would be good. £6.5m probably a bit much but £5m and I don't think you'd hear many complaints.
As mentioned we have a player already signed with club who is just as good and just as good as a back up. So I personally would be a bit peeved especially if we miss out on another player that we desperately need.
Is Ameobi as(/any) good??? Ameobi played 20 games for Bolton this year and got 2 goals, can't get past Atsu this second half of the season once being brought back from loan, Atsu is a full international, played top flight football in Portugal and Holland (reasonably successfully) and Ameobi is only 4 months Atsu's junior. Career stats Ameobi - 114 games, 6 goals Atsu - 147 games, 17 goals 35-40% extra games for Atsu but 3x the goal rate. If we sold Ameobi for £2m we've effectively paid £4.5m for Atsu but could we shift Ameobi for that much?
I would sign Atsu most likely. If you got him and Markovic on loan from Liverpool I think you will have sorted your wide areas for a fairly cheap deal.
