It most certainly will be down and out and deservedly so for AVFC with that sort of non-performance.
The other non-performers today were England, who lost the fifth ODI and the series against South Africa.
At least England saved me X £s by not going to Villa Park today, for I have been listening to TMS whilst watching the stream - with the sound off ... I should have turned the picture off too !

No hope for no hopers, this is yet another a damning indictment of Lerner's maladministration of Aston Villa.
Nevertheless the gap to 17th is still only 8 points, which should not be insurmountable for a team willing to fight to close it. However, a team that loses half its games, as AVFC nearly have, is almost always relegated.

04/03/2016 : This is from Mark Warburton's press conference yesterday ahead of the Rangers v Dundee Scottish FA Cup tie.
He could have been comparing Aston Villa and Rangers ... respectively !

I look at it really basically, and ask if you would rather be involved in a promotion fight or a relegation scrap. If you are at the bottom of the league and you are worrying about your pay being cut by 50% if you go down, and you have a family and a mortgage to pay, then I would understand a loss of mental energy.

But right now, if you are a player at the top of the league fighting for three trophies, then what a great place to be.

AVFC are not down yet and I repeat that I will only 'accept' relegation if it becomes a mathematical certainty.
It is 'do or die' now though, as the maximum points AVFC can now get is 40.
