It seems there has been a leak and info has now reached the Mercury backing up what I was saying about the extension. It is not a big surprise - owners have been saying that that they wanted to expand over 2 years ago when we couldn't find suitable land for a new stadium. Will be interesting exactly what the plans are - if it is just one stand as in the article rather then two stands as previously envisioned, the reinforcements to the foundations can be carried out in the off season meaning that we can have the other stands in use and wouldn't have to play home games elsewhere.
The new stand will be built off site and erected behind the current stand with no disruption to the stadium at all. It's also on completely different foundations because the plans are now different to what was originally proposed. The East Stand will be a cantilever now.
