Elneny hasn't impressed me at all. He has been cumbersome with the ball at his feet, dallies in possession and has been rash when making challenges.
To be fair whenever Wenger has done this TWO defensive midfielders system this Season it hasn't worked. We've done Xhaka and Coq, Coq and Elneney and Elneney and Xhaka. It seems neither has the deeper but role but they are supposed to take turns. Just seems unorganised and dangerous. When Wenger played Xhaka as the DM alongside Cazorla he looked FAR more comfortable.
A much improved second-half display. Better passing, more tackles won in midfield and we created far more chances. Defensively, we were much better. Xhaka was immense in the second 45, I thought. Ozil came good when it mattered. Walcott was continuously poor, but got us an important goal. Chamberlain was okay, but didn't really have as much of an influence on the game as I'd have liked to see. MotM has to be Sanchez. The guy was single-handedly carrying the team at times. His work-rate and doggedness is incredible and he was trying to encourage the other players to follow suit as well. To his credit, Elneny was doing a lot of chasing trying to put pressure on their midfield and defence, but he wasn't great when he had the ball at his feet. Giroud did well when he came on. Held the ball up, won some aerial battles and got an assist. He may not like his role as an impact sub, but he's making a significant contribution every time he comes off the bench.
Only saw the last 10 mins, great to finish Bournemouth off at the end. It sounded like it was a tough game, but another 3 points back to winning ways and 3 points off the top at the end of Nov.
Well we got there a wins a win, another very sketchy performance though. In football terms Bournemouth looked the better side we looked disorganised and sloppy, stuff of champions I'm told.
The only down side is; it looks like Giroud has done his hamstring. He will be going for a scan tomorrow apparently. Could well be a month or so out.
Wenger has an excellent squad for the first time in his career and with his incredible know how is converting draws into wins and losses into draws, but the problem is they should have been all wins by default.. Why cant he get the players playing from the first half if not the very first minute, why have have we been turning up only from the second half for the last half a dozen games? And that's only as far as i can remember. We just change gears when the result is well and truly in danger. If we performed from the get go,we wont be unbeaten maybe but we would have been topping both the league and our cl group. #COYG!
Pretty much the same criticisms were made last season.....it's weird how they haven't worked it out yet
