Are there any decent strikers out there that would sign for us?

  1. In my opinion, we beed to buy a quality striker, not just two or three decent players.

But who would come? We're looking to finish mid table, we have a 40k wage cap. Bids around 25-30 million from clubs like Spurs and Chelsea being turned down.

Anyone we could buy and would work for that amount of wages, wouldn't be that much better than Shola to be honest. Shola isn't amazing, but he's a decent player.

    I don't want -

    Carlton Cole
    Peter Crouch
    Emile Heskey

Who are we going to sign? Please do not say Keane or Owen.

There seems to be a shortage in sriking options here. Most strikers don't want to leave or want massive wages.

How can we go for Keane when he just signed for West Ham yesterday? And Owen? Come man! Is this a wind up!

Hasnt got to be a big name, Ricky van Wolfswinkel? Remember Yannick Djalo as well? I read he was available for 2m the other day.

  5. But we need a quality striker to replace carroll, and buying little snippet "got great potential" players, wont help. We need to get a striker that will score a good number of goals. Players like vargas, wolfswinkle, they all seem like a bit of a risk for me.

I wouldve said Barrios from dortmund - quality all around striker but it's too late for that now. I'd take Elmander and another cheap striker with potential someone like Charlie Austin and also lodge a bid for Taarabt

    Björn Vleminckx - NEC - 17 goals
    Ola Toivonen - PSV - 12 goals
Hulk (would sign him for the name alone) - FC Porto - 19 goals
    Welliton - Spartak Moscow - 19 goals
Ronald Vargas - Club Brugge - 15 goals

Personally, I think Chopra would be a good buy for you, mainly because he's a good player in the league you'll be in next season <ok>

How do we know Carroll is a quality striker? This could easily just be a good run of form. We have enough about us for the season and a cheap gamble wouldnt go amiss if we get to spend that 35M.

I don't have names, but the type of player we need and can afford wont be available from England. If it happens it would have to be from Europe. Hope I'm wrong, but can't see it happening at this late stage though :(

If we were to go back, we wouldnt need Chopra. Ameobi is the Drogba of the Championship
