Tried that botanical gin the other week which was a jock gin spes. Wasn't kean. Gin is famously English and the best rhubarb is from Yorkshire... I'll try it but I'm determined not to like it.
Howay then an' mek thee own using English gin. http://www.fennelandfern.co.uk/blog/2015/08/17/rhubarb-gin-recipe/ Just stick a few slides of root ginger in and you'll have knocked spots off any Scottish mash-up within six weeks. Although you're better off using Vodka as the base. Why anyone would **** about with a decent gin (sloes excepted) is beyond me.
Tbh, I'm more a nice smoky/peaty malt man myself but, rhubard, ginger and rose petal, combined, just sounded right - not only did it sound right the taste was something else. Sat by a pool, somewhere hot, is the perfect place for quaffing one or two.
I went to the Minerva gin festival last year. Never thought I'd be a fan, but I was converted! Them big bowl-shaped glasses, with loads of ice and all the fruity garnish!
Touring the Bombay gin distillery next Saturday. I know that the free taster will not be a good glug. But the missus will enjoy it.
I'm worried rehab will get the idea he's not half bad at this ownership lark and try his hand for another season?
Perhaps if people kept telling him it was true, and pointing out there's massive gains to be made by selling us at our peak earning point, and for him to then use the money to buy a lower local club and repeat the magic, it could work out as a double win?
