We are being bum ducked with that price but if we need someone to blame it's Torres, if he had'nt left it till so late to throw his toys out the pram we might have been able bring someone in at a resonable price...

    Considering:

Suarez - 23mil - Who has scored lots of goals for his club consistantly and has been to a world cup and done reasonably well

Carroll - 35mil - Ok he scored goals but is he a worthy 35mil? If Suarez is only 23mil he isn't 35mil... Bloody prices of english players is a joke

LOL! That'd amount to about 100m if it was in his contract.

On the one hand we complain about how we can't compete with the likes of Chelsea, City, Spurs and the mancs who will happily pay over the odds to get the players they want. * Then when we actually go out and try and do it, we complain that we're paying too much!

Bottom line, if Kenny wants Andy Carroll and is happy for us to pay £30m or whatever, that's fine with me.

Just seem like silly money having said that I'm just happy that we will have a number 9 when Torres goes, Carroll isn't a bad choice but the price is soo high he's gonna have to justify that.

I can't believe how in the space of 5 years transfer fees have jumped so high.

I think it's more because Chelsea, Utd & City do it deal in, deal out while we're doing it out of desperation... I dunno, I'm just not used to Liverpool spending big money on players without the fear of the leveraged debt

Do you think Carroll is really first choice and that is also why we are paying so much or is it the English player quota that teams will have to meet and we want the best in that regard? I think he will be excellent with Suarez and if we do play occasional route 1 footy at least we have a strong and reliable target.

He has a lot more to his game as well and I think it will work. Need that left side sorted out though!

I think they're looking for a big man, and because he's English he's high on the list. Sure, we could throw £30m at Bilbao for Llorente or at some other european club for someone else of that ilk, but the premier league is the first place you'd look considering Suarez has come from outside.

    Suarez only just turned 24

    And

    Caroll is 22

It's actually as blessing in disguise as Torres was always the main bread winner but didn't form a partnership with any one else! S and C could form a partnership which can become very successful for us! Let's hope they start 'forming' against Chelsea to stick it up Torres!

Europe League win aswell would be effing brilliant!!

But Sky were saying that Carroll was on his way to Anfield to discuss terms???

Sky wouldn't lie to us, would they??? I'm done with Sky Sports News I think, constantly talking ****e.

Torres is still in a helicopter as well......

EDIT: Or maybe I'm wrong :emoticon-0102-bigsm
