rafa says they can win the premier league I say the bedsheets will be out by Xmas https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/foot...paid boost test-_-na-_-Imageandlink-_-paidacq
Love the guy but the entire thing reads like he's drunk: "Errr yes we compete. Win it? No, but yes possibly, but no not really. A title, a trophy, yes, no, yes a trophy or a match or competition or.... ooo byeo signor a kebab awaits"
It does a bit, he can't decide if he's going for balls out "come on lads we're going to win this ****ing thing!" or "well, in all honesty we might be relegated so let's be realistic" and came out with a weird mix of the two.
I reckon he worked out what he wanted to say in Spanish and then translated it into English using Google Translate - after passing it through greek, french and double dutch first.
Probably haha. Mind you, it is better than saying "we are getting relegated and there's not a damn thing anyone can do about it" a couple of games in.
It might sound double dutch but it's better than '' we will be in the relegation fight'' ''our players are crap and anyone we buy will be crap''
Thing is. Despite Ashley saving them and throwing a fortune at it, their opinion of Rafa as some messiah figure means they'll turn on Ashley first if they start poorly. Rafa will have a handy excuse up his sleeve to keep his reputation in tact and will walk before he's sacked. Their current squad is nowhere near good enough to stay up (look how many games they lost last season and who to) They have maybe 3 or 4 premier league players and the players theyve been linked with aren't the most inspiring or proven at top level. They pretty much need a new team
A Mackem without bitterness clouding his judgement. Most neutral fans feel the same. Time, and the summer will tell.
Now now, he didn't say that did he?. He actually said we'd be in a relegation scrap, we've been in one for the last 5 season so it's not going to change. Which is common sense when you looked how much the squad needed spending on it. Why's it better anyway? One was bang on the money while the other will be proven to be damn right delusional
Ha very true. Although it could be argued it set the tone for a negative season aftera buoyant end by Allardyce whereas Rafa is being (overly) optimistic. Nobody takes what Rafa said as serious but sets out a positive vision.
It's nowt every manager prior hasn't said. They've all held the same sentiment. None of their fault in the sense their comments damaged our chances(Though every manager has blame in using money badly). Ultimately we're just ran into the ground compressed ****.
