i didn't see it but was listening on the radio, apparently a yellow all day long so his appeal should be a formality.
I knew it would fail if you appealed, they'll protect their referees at all costs. He went over the top of the ball, so regardless of getting the ball and the fact that Herrera was not injured, that little bit gives the FA enough to protect their referees. It wasn't dangerous, he shouldn't have been banned, but throwing refs under the bus is last resort for the FA.
I'm not surprised it wasn't successful either, maybe if replays had shown there was no contact but there was some so like you say inevitable they'd back the ref. It's not like we'll miss him much anyway.
Every player puts their foot over the ball when they roll it, it's part of the technique no matter what part of the instep you use. There's no tackle here, There should have been but Herrera bottles it, makes no attempt to play the ball, so seb plays it through his legs. You can see Seb ready for the tackle but opting to play it as Herrera pulled out from it. If putting your foot over the ball when you roll it is dangerous than the game is ****ed as it rules out a common passing techniques in the game. If you want to play a firm pass and keep across the grass you're got to roll your foot over the top. Pinging it on your instep has no control of top and down spin. Rolling over the ball gives it forward top spin to either achieve the extra distance or/and keep the ball down. Herrera is very very lucky Seb opted not to go in for the tackle and played it instead, as pulling out of tackles like that has to be the most stupid thing a player can do for their own safety. Seb is from the old school of make sure you tackle harder to avoid injury. If that had gone to a tackle Herrera would have been well and truly crunched. The soft bottler got very lucky.
Unless the ref has made an absolutely glaring cock up, the FA will back him. That's just the way it is.
Did anyone actually think the FA would give us the benefit of the doubt. They haven't been doing that since 1958 when we got caught outside the rules, I agree that Seb won't be a great loss but if that tackle was the other way round we wouldn't be having this discussion now, and I'm not saying that cause it was Man Utd, it was a nothing incident wrongly interpreted by the Ref and the FA haven't the bottle to say he got it wrong. Simples.
Clever play from Herrera if you ask me, one of the most intelligent footballers I've ever seen at this club and he done Larsson up like a kipper. Similar to what he done to Stevie G, game over as soon as the ref put his hand in his pocket.
"Clever"? What, sort of Ashley Young clever? As in see how far I can dive when someone farts at me clever? Yes, we all know it happens and sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, but that should come out put in the post-match wash and appropriate action taken. If these FA ****ers can't distinguish, with the benefit of plenty of time and multiple views on TV replays, that this wasn't a red, then they should change career tooty-suity. Ditto if a player has conned the ref. He might be a clever **** if he has, but he's still a ****...
Problem is, Bri, that next time he might do it if he thinks that the result is going to be the same. Might as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb, after all. Players only have an instant to decide these things, but if his mindset from the outset is that he's going to be stitched up either way, then...?
No, just annoyed. It's bad enough that we went a man down in a very important game, but then the FA goons can't even put it right afterwards.
Well blame the FA then instead of moaning like a slapped pig at Herrera. The lad's a phenomenal player, Larsson is a mug.
But that makes no sense as it was taken out his own hands. Schooled? You're talk some ****e on the defensive mate, think you know it too. he was megged by an average player, carried out a delayed drama and only saved face by a refereeing decision diverting the attention. Showed himself right up imo. Megged by Larsson as he bottled a challenge. Yes Tel #veryimpressive.
