The fact is that those who vote no because they want full PR are kidding themselves. A no vote will be used to put back electoral reform for a generation because line will be the public have voted on the issue and said no. A yes vote will be the first step towards moving to full PR which is why the Tories and the die-hard tribalist wing of the Labour party are so concerned. The lies surrounding AV which have been put out there to deter people are scandalous.
Morning Norway, hope you're well. 606 seems to have pretty much died so I thought it was about time I got round to signing up on here.
The turn-outs here are horrendous - the % that vote in St Helier tends to be 20 - 25 but it is a lot higher in the country parishes. That's partly due to the majority of the Portugese community live in St Helier.
Welcome to not606 Bradley. Agree with you re Hitler - nothing to do with voting systems - all to do with Versialles and Germany's pain over reparations etc and as you say Hindenburg et al thought they had a little "drummer boy" Also agree re AV - the no vote will be used to say we want FPTP. AV might not be that great but it would be a step towards fairer voting - but it will not happen - for now at least. Most people cannot care less but the entrenched powers will see that change does not happen "by accident"
