Who the one that you said the other day was doing fine, so should keep his place? http://www.not606.com/threads/flint-pens-new-contract.339880/#post-9975633
Taylor Moore is not a England U19 captain for no reason, will go on to play in the prem with Maggs. Flint does not have the speed to be a prem defender. Both players allround game is better.
Moore has never played for the U21s - he was captain of the U19s and has two caps for the U20s. I don't think our failings come down to an individual like Flint - a good defence relies on good individuals, but almost more importantly the understanding between players. We've conceded far too many soft goals which were completely avoidable. Typical RR though - pick the latest scapegoat(s) and act like the enlightened one by suggesting someone else, knowing he can't ever be proven right or wrong.
Sorry Nick should have said u19,still do not understand where your coming from,Flint has been a great servant, but has his limitations.
But you want to drop him because of a U19's England player with limited experience? You really are sounding like a clown now.
The point is that you very often assert that players you've still seen very little of would be better options than those that are playing (the other being Engvall in particular). Maybe it's possible that Moore is already a better option than Flint, but to be frank I'd be surprised, and I don't think replacing him would be the catalyst to us suddenly getting better results. It's often too easy a solution that player A isn't good enough, so play player B.
Fully agree, however what i have seen of both, they both look like they have something about them, neither have been given a run by LJ. Under the current circumstances, i find it hard to believe they have not been given a go.
That's all well and good, but in order for them to get in, someone else has to go out - has Flint really done enough wrong to be dropped? You say Moore will end up better, which may be the case (time will tell), but is he better right now? If nothing else, we'd certainly lose a physical presence who's good in the air when defending and at attacking corners. Similarly, with Engvall, I take it you don't want Abraham dropped, so it's a switch to 4-4-2 (unless you want a SC style 3-5-2?). Those two up front, presumably Pack and Tomlin in the middle, maybe O'Dowda and Freeman on either side? Lots of ifs, buts and maybes. Something needs to change, but I'm not sure how drastic. It may be clutching at straws but we've not been truly 'tonked' like we have been in previous seasons - just the odd goal. Hopefully that implies tweaks rather than overhaul (focusing on Defensive drills might help).
The problem being what has gone before us is not working at present-does he keep going along the same path,or does he change it. Tonight, and Monday, are his biggest two games since being given the job. If the games are both lost,as we all expect then decisions need too be made regards his position. I hope they open the job up to all,and not a closed shop as on the previous occasion.
