We have a lot more information on what dinosaurs were doing than we have on what was going through the Mayan's and Egyptian minds when they built pyramids for the simple reason that there are plenty of dinosaur fossils which have been and are being found around the world. We also know during what time period they were living (and dying) by the rocks we find them in. We can use this information to extrapolate to what we think was happening with the dinosaurs over that time period - yes its interpretation but its interpretation that fits the evidence available. Similarly with palaeoclimate and atmospheric compositions I used the word probably because we actually know quite a lot (in geological terms) about what was going on during the various time periods. Again its interpretation but its interpretation that fits the facts from rock types, fossils found, fluid inclusion compositions, stable isotope compositions and an understanding of events that were occurring during the various time periods, using what we know happens when these events occur now. Does it seem strange to me that we are the only species (Genus: Sunderlandii hexadigitii excepted) that has shown significant intellectual development - no that's just the evolutionary branch that we are on and that's why we are the dominant species now. Probably a good job as if you had other species developing similarly you would end up with the great Human-Ruminant wars etc. However I don't want you to think that I think your research is wasted because anything that adds to our scientific knowledge is useful. Having spoken with my boss we have decided that we are willing to provide a substantial research grant so if you can provide your bank account details we will transfer this to you. Can you also send a scanned copy of your signature just in case the bank needs that as well. Cheers and keep up the good work.
I've scanned my debit card, front and back, made it a lot easier. I could just post it as well? Don't want to miss out.
What?!? You mean I'm NOT about to shatter science with a cataclysmic revelation? I'll come clean - I'm actually just finding more material for a local stand-up routine based on this "theory". Thought it'd make for good banter. Then Jak comes wading in his with paleolithic citations and geological research (yeah, smart-ass, we've all got Google)...... That said, there's something not right about our species. I mean, look at Russia, Sunderland and Trump.
Sorry but its what I do for my job. I am at this minute wading through a report on the biostratigraphy and palaeoenvironments of the Cretaceous, Jurassic and Triassic in Papua New Guinea which I need to send out soon. No dinosaurs found yet though but quite a few dinoflagellates. They were definitely evolving - some of them are quite pretty (if you are into fossils).
Yeah, but I've got no beef with dino's. My issue's with humies. So like you have dino's clocking up 165m years. Primates have been around for an estimated 75m years. Then 'man' evolved out of that and is doing its best to destroy a 4bn year old planet in a little under 100 years.
Don't worry, we aren't destroying the earth. We are just making it unfit for us to inhabit. The earth will be fine.
I always inspect my crap because it indicates what areas of nutrition I'm getting wrong if any at all
Gotta get your fibre in mate. Nothing worse than missing a morning dump. Regular as clockwork. I eat right, train right and **** right. If I could cut out some of the alcohol...
