Great news for Alex McCarthy, and a well deserved call up.

Quite possibly not such good news for us Reading fans. He's already been the subject of interest from a few premiership clubs. This England recognition could increase the chances that we'll lose him.

Hope I'm wrong, because if Zingarevich and Adkins are serious about building a premiership quality squad, we can't afford to lose any of the, very few, decent players we have, and McCarthy is a prime example.

Ipswich did not think much of him the fools, our best asset,so he will be gone, now we will see Adkins resolve,he must fight to keep him.

Can't disagree with that tosh. He's been great this season, especially when he spent so long out of action with the shoulder injury.

Adkins has publicly said he isn't going anywhere, just hope he's right.

nice performance throughout the season. So a call up was deserved. For me, he is the 2nd choice ahead of Ben Foster.

It'll be interesting to see if he gets a game. The Republic game would be a good one to try him out. Can't see him getting on against Brazil though.
