Last time we gave youngsters a long run in the team was back in 1975/76 because we had no choice.....skint!
Anybody know what the buy back amount is? I'm almost certain we have one. Looks like we've replaced him with Rudiger from Roma for 30 odd million. Good value in this market for a German international.
True but look what those 3 clubs have won in the last 10-15 years. 1 league cup between them I think. The main issue seems to be the difficulty it is giving youth a chance when you are expected as a manager to win major honours every year. It's still poor though of course because Barca, Madrid etc have all manager to bring youth players through over the years.
we dont need to bring on 3 every year but surely we can bring on 1???? Ake was a nailed down certainty to thrive in my opinion, utter disgrace he was moved on, conte is either weak as piss or full of **** when it comes to youth. Deja vu.
Or maybe Conte didn't think he was good enough?.For me Ake is a mid~table premier league club player.Add on the fact he probably wants to play every week, where he's gone he will do.Personally i'll back Conte whatever he does, think we're lucky to have him.
Believe he's being lined up for a move to Marseille, only a loan, but he won't be with us this season
FFS, Chalobah now too. This is ridiculous. We shouldn't be allowed to call it an Academy, that's false advertising. None of the players will ever get to feature for us on any meaningful level, they are just there for us to sell. I think we should stop calling it an academy and start calling it the Chelsea Youth Farm.
I can only think Conte believes they are not good enough or certainly not going to be good enough anytime soon. Hopefully the buy back clauses will mean anyone that does really kick on after the leave will be able to come back at a sensible price. Matic is an example of a player who would never have got to the level he is now at sitting on the bench. If only we'd had a buy back clause with him and Lukaku!!
Serious question because I have never looked into it, if a club put a player with a buy back clause up for sale do they have to sell him to the club that holds the clause (if they want him back) or can they sell to a higher bidder?
Presumably to the club with the buy back clause. I believe thats why Morata had to go back to Real relatively cheaply (i don't know what would happen in the instance of a player not agreeing terms with the club buying back though)
I always thought it was the most they could charge the club holding the clause but could sell to a higher bidder if the player wanted to go there. Like I said, I haven't looked into it though.
Does a player have to agree to a buy back clause in the original sale? What if club B want to sell the player and have had an offer from club A that meets the buy back value, the only other offer is from club C which is a bit lower. Can the player say "**** that, I'm not going back to club A but I wouldn't mind going to club C".
