I'm hoping the Spurs fans on the last game of the season showed to us how to treat an ex player. The singing of Dawson and Huddlestone should serve as a reminder. I looked at toms last three seasons at Spurs prior to signing for us, played 14, 2 and 20 times over three seasons. Injuries played a part obviously. But they still remembered how he was when he was good for them. Will we sing about Elmo like that? I doubt it. Well call him a **** and a greedy bastard I expect. Over five seasons he played 216 times. I don't think he was ever injured. Which is amazing. It seemed last season he played when we won but got little credit. When we were beaten it was all the rb rwb's fault. An easy scapegoat. The bloke went through a bad divorce and bad times but remember how well he played and how consistent he was for us.and how much work he got through on that right flank. good luck Elmo and thanks.
I for one would not say anything against him. He has been a great servant to the club, and had many more pluses the minuses against his performances. In the last 2 years he has not been at his best, but he has gone through a split up in his marriage by all accounts, which may well have affected him.
he was a beast during the bruce years didn't he match some outfield pl consecutive appearence record or something
Overall he was a very good signing for us, but he was really poor last season. I suspect, that when he lines up against us, he'll largely be met with indifference. Unless the **** dives.
I just don't like him, something about him rubbed me the wrong way, always felt he was more highly rated than he deserved to be, even when he played well. Never should've won player of the season the year he did too IMO. Apologies if that bothers you, Chazz.
I would give him a good reception , thought he was brilliant first couple of seasons , has slowly declined tho and think it is time to move on
It's an inverted attitude at that. If Elmo had been born and bred in Hull there would be no criticising him.
At his best he worked hard, at his worst he couldn't be bothered. He was Bruce's only avenue of attack at times, so his stats said he got loads of crosses in, however they didn't create that many goals.
I've got to hold my hands up here. I'm not his biggest fan. Brilliant for the first couple of seasons. Then spent the rest as bang average to poor.with the odd good game chucked in. He was so bad at Liverpool that he handled the ball to get of the pitch. You are too soppy chazz. I won't boo him I'll probably applaud him But I'm glad he is going. So there
He was ok. Flattered to deceive in the last couple of seasons. Time to unleash the Lenihan and Moses. My only concern with these two is long term match fitness.
I think it's a little easier for a club like Spurs to sing and applaud an ex player. In most cases, the player doesn't necessarily want to leave but has to due to a lack of first team opportunities. So there isn't any resentment from the fans due to the player forcing a move/leaving for money etc. I don't think the Spurs fans were as accommodating to Sol Campbell after he left...
I think they were 5-1 up at the time...Who wouldn't praise ex-players then... Shame that Elmo might be going. Heard that is buy-out clause is only £500k
