    When you consider some of the knobs we signed I think we've been done. Far better we start sourcing our players without such leeches lining their pockets. Villa never learn by the look of things...

    Think that's what the appointment of Penrice is about - a proper scouting network - not your mate the agent with the potential for liberal distribution of manila stationery.

    On reflection and review of the figures it is clear my initial post is strewn with errors and our outlay on agents is a pittance.

    With the top five responsible for 50% of agents fees, and us close to that group, it would seem reasonable to be spending about £1.2m to £2m in a season. That said we have been dealing in quantity of players in over recent years, with manager changes regularly moving people out and in. Let's hope we see more stability ahead.
