HTML: 7 Felipe Massa 95 8 Nico Rosberg 93 9 Romain Grosjean 90 Massive battle going on there for the pride of 7th place!!!
I guess he doesn't want to burn any bridges before he leaves but I wouldn't be so subtle.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1/20193556
Pretty much the same as what Whitmarsh said before the weekend, and its blinding obvious to anyone that McLaren have failed this year despite having a car that has been very competitive at most of the races this year, only for reliability and team errors to ruin chances of victory or a good haul of points.
Seems the German nation are getting very irritated by Lewis' attitude towards Seb recently, not a good idea when your new team is Mercedes and German owned. 8.11 million watched that race which is a record I heard over there (I think). The last thing Mercedes want to be is the team that houses a driver who makes pops against Seb any chance he gets as he is now their German Number 1 with that drive at Abu Dhabi, it sounds like it was massive over there! All I'm saying is Mercedes are a product and the last thing they need is to piss off a majority of German customers that will likely be Seb fans, all because Lewis cant shut his mouth. Also it seems Seb has now inherited the name: (The Barbarian) http://www.bild.de/sport/motorsport/gp-abu-dhabi/vettel-wird-zum-barbaren-27043968.bild.html
Talk about taking something out of context Silver did you even see the interviews after the race? He barely said it with any malice and was laughing. Also, I went to the German GP in 2009 and aside from those supporting the natives there were loads of fans who were not British who were supporting him, also Mercedes are a global brand and are not existing in F1 just to please the German market in the same way McLaren have never gone out of their way just to appease British fans as shown by the diverse number of drivers who have driven for their team. (Button/Hamilton line up coincidental IMO that they are both British) Also in their post race comments Whitmarsh, Domenicali, Alonso and Button all used the word 'luck' to describe Vettel's race, so why not direct as much anger towards them as you have to Lewis so far? Why not just enjoy the great drive that Vettel put in rather than going on about a throw away comment from a guy who is not even in the battle for the championship anymore!
I've not been in on what's been said since the race. Indeed, this is the first thing I've said. But surely someone's not getting worked up about Vettel benefiting from various circumstances beyond his (or anyone else's) control? Vettel raced very well but let's not mince words: he was also extremely fortunate. And if some people prefer to substitute 'extremely fortunate' with 'extremely lucky', I have no problem with that whatsoever. It's just a word and we all know how things fell into place, repeatedly. This despite his good driving and superb "box box box" call, which landed him in clean air at exactly the right moment, with a car in a better state than all others. Vettel drove well. Obviously. I'm sure no-one would dispute this. But no-one can retain forum credibility if seriously claiming he did not also have a damn sight more luck than Hamilton (for instance).
It's more about double standards. I mean, what did those people (who say Seb was "just" lucky) say after Montreal 2011? And what do they say now?
Both got a break from the safety car that artificailly put them in a better position than what they should have been. We may has well rename this forum - 'Vettel is God and do not say anything nasty about Schuey either otherwise Silver, Manny and tomtom will take over 606. com'
