I mean a song that signifies something from your youth, as a young rebel or whatever. WE all have those other songs that reminds us of things but there are certain songs that were part of our growing up.. This is mine, first heard it as a first year apprentice at the Cleveland Bridge in Darlo in 1973, in the back of a Volkswagon Beetle heading home to Spennymoor with my work mate.. Home, dressed and out, in loon pants and flair sleeved embroidered t-shirt, wandered up to the Half-Moon pub, met a mate who rolled a joint and had my first black cannabis head explosion in the snug bar, bizarre at the time but always a memory.. Whilst this blasted out of the juke-box, ****ing love this song..
Different generations, Joe. This is what my first memories are of going on a night out. I wasn't smoking a joint, either. I was 'E'ing out of my nut.
I was big into the rave scene from tbe age of 16 to about 20. Id spend every Sat night in the Power house or the Blue Monkey/Colloseum off my tits.
I loved the Punk/New wave scene of the late 1970's and early 1980's, and the song that came to mind when I read this thread was No More Heroes by the Stranglers..
Quality days mate. Never any trouble them days because everybody was E'd up and full of love for eachother. You probably started listening it a few years after me.
Same here, although my kid probably still has them to hand. If I can get my hands on them, they are yours. I'm still pals with the lads who DJ and MC, it's just not my scene anymore, unless it's one of the lads birthdays or something and that's where they want to head. Very rare, though.
Cheers mate, I never leave pictures up now because of what the daft ****s can be like on here with them. Shame like.
I have that song mate.. Cracking rave music era, I blame my son for leading me astray into the ashtray..
Get yourself on Mixcloud, thousands of great mixes from all the top dj's and raves from back in the day.
I remember hearing this for the 1st time at a rave at York racecourse, it was being played as we got out of the car and were walking towards the huge tent, I knew we were going to be in for a great night.
