Starting with the serious stuff... I think the Paddy's being a scrooge... if you cant read it here ... link to it on FB
And moving on to the more pleasant stuff.... A 10 year-old autistic girl sings Hallelujah - she certainly moved me to tears.
Christmas Eve followed a regular pattern for me when I used to play the organ for the Midnight Carol Service at the parish church. Weddings, funerals throughout the year, but the big difference was that the building would be standing room only. 250 there and a chance to pull out a few more stops on a good instrument without the fear of drowning them out. It was the only time in the year, apart from Harvest, when some would set foot over the door. After it was over for another year I would drive home, have a mince pie and glass of something, and sleep well providing that some of my more ambitious variations had not gone wrong. I quite miss that part of Christmas, but not the manic pressure that seems to be put on people to keep on spending.
A merry Christmas to one and all, raise a glass to 3 points from Palace and a rise in our fortunes over the festive period, that push for Europe seems to have died with Brexit!!!! Walter the British didn't vote to keep Watford out of Europe now come on, pull together....
Cheers dave - am glad to see it's the 'proper' stuff & not the rebranded-in-England-with-a-Union-Flag-British stuff that is exported to Russia and beyond...
Merry Christmas to you all. Father Christmas has paid us his annual visit and is now heading towards Australia, I would assume. Miss NZ is still a believer, I think.
Can I thank everyone for their companionship over the year and wish everyone a Merry Christmas & Happy New Year or if you prefer BAH HUMBUG!
Been a great place to come to regularly for me... Wishing you all health and happiness in the coming year ( urrmmm... and a reversal of Brexit .... Yorkie gets coat and runs out into the night...... )

Cheers, Fez, it was excellent. Two very happy boys and I broke all 'rules' by shopping for Mrs Andy by proxy through the lads. We'd been to the jeweller's and chosen something together for her and she was overjoyed. The boys were so happy to have made her so happy, they both got what they wanted and it was bloody good all round. A lunchtime present today would be good. How was yours, mate?
Point well made and duly taken. But the naughty side of me thought this might be a Christmas Appeal for Yuletide logs.
Spoilt rotten. No children ourselves, alas, but plenty of nephews and nieces to spoil and then we treat each other like two big children: Santa Sacks find their way to the end of the bed in the middle of the night, the pub at lunchtime, the Oldies over for dinner and even more presents... marvellous!
