As we are a net importer, surely a strong pound is preferable? Cheaper goods, lower inflation and I'll get more bang for my buck when I go on holiday.
I voted to leave, but I won't make out everything is rosy. Not that a weak pound is a travesty as it may help lower the trade deficit and tourist spend more money when visiting.
nail on head for me. I'm happy to get on with it but find it slightly humerous when certain sections tell me how great it will be. Let's wait and see.
The Remoaners really do have a problem with national identity. Nobody on here, but so many of them are unpatriotic and viscerally anti- English. It's almost as if they are ashamed by the idea of national sovereignty
Fabian Socialism! The real threat to libertarianism (the true democracy). This is the impact of such. People defending such an undemocratic system, with yet more undemocratic principles.
Also in the paper: Wonder how their citizens will feel about that? Guarantee the government will be voted out pretty damn quickly.
The interesting debate now is whether the EU nationals who have moved here should be given the right to remain after 2019. In my opinion, no. The Govt should look to introducing some sort of audit for those who have settled here, based on the following criteria - 1. Are you working & paying taxes 2. If you are working, what job are you doing 3. If it is not a job of a suitable calibre - I would recommend graduate entry or a salary in excess of £50,000 i.e. harder to fill, then there is no economic or social case to be made. We also have a moral obligation to the other 27 EU countries, who need these folk for their own economies. My criteria have a certain amount of support in Govt circles.
What would you do with the million + Brits who would undoubtedly be repatriated to the UK if, god forbid your "policy" was put into practice. I would assume they don't want to come back to a country which treats human beings as numbers on a profit & loss sheet as you propose. Also what of the children of these "immigrants born & brought up here. Are you deporting foreigners from the last 5, 10, 40, 50 years ?
Exactly the same arrangements should apply. Interesting that you only apply a threshold with regards to financial cost, not untypical of the Left. I am far more concerned about the social costs of mass EU immigration. I would happily earn less and see GDP shrink for a while if it saw our population sharply fall.
