Business confidence isn't sky high IMO. In my industry there are still a lot of questions that remain, and when taking jobs abroad they are quick to adjust pricing due to ''Brexit''. My partner works in the clothing industry and there is also a lot of concerns that side too. She is in a customer facing role and sells to the likes of Harrods, Selfridges etc and they have the same concerns - orders have lowered considerably until they know whats happening.
Organisations such as the CBI, FSB and Institute of Directors are reporting very high levels of confidence from their members. I know, I am copied in to their spam e mails most days Confidence will understandably be affected in some quarters when people listen to unelected Herr Junker saying the UK must be punished for exercising our democratic right. Juncker is a great supporter of business himself - the wine drinking business.
Not sure how CBI will feel about article 50 as they wrote a letter a month of so back mentioning how we go about Brexit will carry certain consequences.
Public Sector confidence is not good; although that's austerity driven too. I'm a Building Surveyor in the Higher Education sector - both HE and Construction face severe issues post Brexit, Construction in particular.
http://www.cbi.org.uk/news/cbi-signs-open-letter-to-government-on-brexit-negotiations/ Not sure they will still be reporting very high levels of confidence now?
Well, public schools can create those that bring wealth to the UK. Guess it depends how you look at it. We all can't spend daddy's money ****ing pigs.
I'm in Construction and the Public Sector. I've never known it to be so busy. Order books are overflowing, the only thing I'm struggling to do is get qualified and experienced staff to do all the work. Thankfully the new support for apprentices and that kids in their late teens have realised there is no need for them to go to University to get a degree in Basket Weaving or Meeja Studies or whatever, as there are now thousands of occupational places out there, were you work, get hands on as well as theoretical experience and actually contribute to society, rather than just the student bar.
I am in the electronics sector and we (and our suppliers & customers) are very busy due to the value of the pound.
Maybe it's because I work for a big university that specialises in offering degrees in things like Basket Weaving then...
As long as the demand is there. Then you have to consider goods imported in - if the pound continues to weaken then those prices go up. With Europe looking fragile, the US trying to steady the ship, I wouldn't be confident that a weak pound is something to cheer. Maybe the outlook will change in a year or two.
Oi Kish, ............... like the rest of her, they are made out of British Steel as the Europeans will soon find out
