2017 Pre-Season Testing: Barcelona

My Honda is very reliable. Perhaps they should use that. It won't win a race but I'm sure it can manage a race distance without all the oil falling out.

 

Let's just hope hope they address it quickly.

Very early days for every team at the moment. Also worrying that Toro Rosso failed to complete a filming day and Red Bull could not get past 4 laps on their respective opening shows with the new Renault PU.

Laps per power unit so far:

• Mercedes - 82 Laps
• Ferrari - 63 Laps
• Renault - 40 Laps
• Honda - 1 Lap

Bottas now on 50

 

So, who's going to break last year's pole time first?

 

its all interesting thus far.

It actually bodes well that the ferrari at least could run round reliably here and it SEEMS the red bull on may just be a one off but who knows ftom the very breif description.

Mercedes will be on top it seems no question.

 

The Ferrari is looking good. its time is 3 seconds quicker than the williams which is the next car with a best time set on mediums.

 

very early days yet. But yes if ferrari can be running in that mode now then they have at the very least gotten confidence form their "photo shoot" testing that they've done in the reliability.

I doubt very much of that 3 seconds is more than transitory. maybe a second by end of testing? who knows.

It bodes well that theres at least 2 cars running long here right of of the gate.

A few of you are asking via #bbcf1 how the times we're seeing today compare with testing last year.

The below is a breakdown of the top six times at the end of the first pre-season test at the same track in 2016, so you can see that after just one morning of testing the teams are already quicker.

So, keeping in mind our leader today has done a 1:22.791, the leading times after four days a year ago were:

1. Sebastian Vettel (Ferrari) 1:22.810

2. Nico Hulkenberg (Force India) 1:23.110

3. Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari) 1:23.477

4. Daniel Ricciardo (Red Bull) 1:23.525

5. Sergio Perez (Force India) 1:23.650

6. Daniil Kvyat (Red Bull) 1:24.293

given we are expecting 5 seconds a lap fast or something... we cna expect a lot more to come.

 

Kevin has been off and damaged the front wing, locked the rear wheels. Haas having braking issues again already?

Not a great start for him.

 

Wonder what other clever rule interpretations are going to come out as the teams and press get more close ups of the cars?
