Anyone else a bit disappointed that there's such a massive gap from the big three teams to the rest.? It just seems so exaggerated so far and I hoped they would be closer in the new regs.
Williams have been awful this race, just noticed. Considering where Bottas was compared to Hamilton in Aus he's had a shocker as well.
I don't think Ferrari were fast enough. Hamilton was cruising most of that race, pulling out fast laps when needed and no more. Side note, Verstappen immediately up to his old "moving in the braking zone" game, no idea why that rule was removed.
Great performance by Lewis but we were denied a head to head because if the inept Ferrari strategy! I think the slick move was brave but fair play and it may have worked if not for the Sauber Kimi had issues in the first stint so why they sacrificed Vettel for 15 laps is beyond me, especially with Max scampering off? Once Vettel had forced his way through and caught Max, Bottas was outside of the pit window, Kimi was likely to pit. If they had pitted Vettel then they would have forced the strategy rather than covering Max in the later laps. They could have moved Kimi and he would have easily passed Ricc on the newer tyre. They had nothing to lose and everything to gain. With the late pit they cut Lewis from 12+ to 8(ish), and early pit would likely have been between 2-4 seconds (net) and left Merc in no mans land. I still think Lewis had the pace but Merc have to be pressured on strategy and they were let off today
well, it seemed the right move at the time, Sainz was holding his own with slicks, they just couldn't foresee the Sauber causing a pit-lane detour (f**king carbon fibre). From a team perspective yeah, they should've let Seb pass, but I'm glad they didn't. All in all, that was a decent race, the SC may have ruined the race for the win but, like in 2011, if you ignored the leader there was some good racing through the grid. I especially liked Perez's double overtake through 1 & 2, I think he must've watched me online. And once again, poor Alonso jose?
I think Ferrari messed up strategy or they could have a chance. If they were up top pressuring Lewis. Instead it was easy for him to run away. That's why I think it's crucial for Lewis to have Bottas ahead of the Ferrari's. That's why he prefers to have him In the team as he is a clear #2 mercenary. Ferrari need to sort these roles too but I don't think Kimi will like it. So with this Lewis is looking pretty for 2017 WDC
Kimi really did have a mare of a race, even on fresher tyres he fell away from Vettel at a hell of a pace.
