they didn't though, did they. IIRC they gave him a 30+second penalty. It'll even itself out, Vettel is going to get some PU penalties later in the season for sure.
Vandoorne seems consistently 2-3 tenths slower than Alonso with the phase 3 engine. Either it's a very insignificant update from Honda or Stoffel really isn't what he was made out to be.
Alonso is a super driver. In a different class thats all. Anti-climax today sadly, Bottas will have a lot of defending to do.
Gonna be interesting to see how Hamilton gets on with starting on the soft, good to see a different strategy on the start.
Interesting to see that Mercedes have allowed their number 2 driver to finally turn his engine up for qualifying, or is it just a coincidence that Lewis has a penalty?
Hamilton had his up for Q2, and nailed it, but then made a mess of every run in Q3. I think Jasper could be the only point winner in this weeks game, I was sorely tempted to go for Bottas here, but bottled it and went Vettel.
Just seeing the handshake snub. Did Hamilton really order Bottas to follow him. That's some proper #2 management.
Hamilton asked Bottas to stand in the middle. No order; just a reasonable request, in my opinion. I'd have been inclined to do the same. Nonsense – and I'm sure you know it!
Bloody interviewer - deliberately put two blokes in a 'situation', in full view of the public and the global TV audiences, knowing he'd gain clicks and exposure whatever happened. "I need a handshake, you and Sebastian... Please my friend." Cynical BS. I'm glad Hamilton wanted no part of it. Would have been even better if he'd nutted the interviewer. In fact, better still if he'd nutted the interviewer and then Vettel nutted the interviewer, and then they both shook hands away from the cameras. (Hmmm. I suppose he'd have got exposure from that too. Ok, the best thing would be if they didn't nut him, and instead they said "Who do you think you are? Jeremy Kyle?" and then went to a different interviewer later and shook hands there.)
