Reports claimed that his last game for the club triggered a £16m clause before this was announced. Probably the closest that we're going to get to the truth.
18 players averaging £4m each, that is probably about right for development fees. Shame you couldn't bring any up to standard and try to save some money on purchases.
I know...can you imagine how much money we would have saved if we hadn't had to pay for Kane and Winks
You got them for peanuts as kids I was thinking more about players you have bought, found to be useless and sold again. All clubs do that but not many brag about how many failed academy players they have moved on.
Found to be useless? Failed? A lot of them are proven Premier League players. It's a sign that our academy's actually working, after years of producing nobody. Even actual cast-offs like Kevin Stewart are deemed good enough for Liverpool. That's a real improvement.
England Internationals Townsend, Livermore and Mason must all be useless and have failed terriibly in their careers haven't they! Wish my footballing career had been such a failure
M'Poku's carved out a decent career for himself too, recently scoring this goal against Ghana in the African Nations: Currently on loan at Panatinaikos from Chievo.
What you write, what you mean and what you think bare no resemblance to reality of this discussion mate. Harry Kane joined us at 16 yrs of age. Harry winks has always been at spurs. Neither cost anything. So they are products of our academy which is what we were discussing. But you wrote you were thinking about "players we bought, found to be useless and then sold on"...that has nothing to do with the list does it? Cos those are transfers. We bought Paulinio and Soldado, found them to be rubbish and sold them on but that has nothing to do with this discussion either does it? United have made around £28.5 since 2010 on 18 academy player sales which is way less than the £4m per player that you claim " to be about right". United have taken since the 2005-06 season to make £75m from academy player tranfer sales. Which means it has taken Utd 11 seasons to do what spurs have done in 6. That was a total of 30 players being sold. Again, way less than the £4m you claim to be about right. Info from here https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&s...ggaMAA&usg=AFQjCNG2s0l-9iQo74YtqTHu-S0hfH97tg As we are building a brand new stadium and do not have the same money as United, Arsenal, City, Chelsea and Liverpool the money we make from the academy is important and will continue to be so. This is why it is being discussed on our transfer thread. Don't come and make wum posts on here (that's what the prem board is for) cos its pointless and boring. Cheers
Various sites are claiming that the following is proof that we have signed Belvedere striker Troy Parrott, as it was taken from a video posted on his Instagram please log in to view this image ...one slight problem, though: the most cursory glance at his Instagram reveals no such thing, which means either... a.) Parrott jumped the gun in revealing the move, and has since taken the video down b.) The photo is a Kellyanne Conway job
Dear Mr Levy, I know it is early spring and the summer transfer window is yet to open but please go to the Manchester shopping centre and spend big on one Sergio Aguero. They owe us one , as they sold us a dud Adebayour. Thank you very much.
Well if Bilic thinks that the Scammers can get a discount on Modric due to the pair being Croatian...
I doubt any other side in recent years can match that sort of profit on their unwanted academy players to be honest. Mason, Bentaleb and Townsend played a big part in our mini revival under Poch as well, the first two could've well still been here but both suffered injuries which resulted in them losing their places. Though I just hope we're not dumb enough to let one of our talents go for peanuts only to then buy him back for a world record fee a few years later
A price of more than £15m is being quoted for Tielemans - and, no, I don't think and Arsenalish bid of £15,000,001 will cover it. On the other hand, last season a figure north of £20m was being quoted, so split the difference and call it £18m and get this sorted. On the subject of long-term central midfield targets, we're linked to Adrien Rabiot again. Do you think his mother will let him come out and play this time?
Unfortunately, he's going to auction unless he's decided where he wants to go and is prepared to stick out for that club alone. Barring him having decided he has to play for us, we're likely to get Batshuayi'd again. Rabiot mentioned that he might be interested in a move. He name dropped Real Madrid, which along with his likely salary at PSG, suggests he isn't coming to N17 other than in the CL next season, with whoever else he ends up with. Barring Joe Lewis selling up to some oppressor of his own people, we're unlikely to be able to land such players on transfer fees, let alone wages. James Ward-Prowse anyone?
CL next season + our lovely Belgians putting in a good word could suffice in getting Tielermans. *** *** Subject to the inevitable out-bidding by the Spanners.
See the Batshuayi reference above. He was ours until we wouldn't pay him £125k a week and £35m to his club for him to sit on our bench. He was signing for them before Levy could say "Willian?"
