As for the new signing, he could be the legs we need alongside McCarthy to allow Bakley to do what he does best and save his legs going forward??
That is a surprise, his ability and workraye were key in Bobbys first season and he, like many others decided to down tools. I can see him ahead of Barry, Gibson in MF and I would not put all my faith in the exciting little crop of players coming through either, especially without some more experienced players to guide/help them.
He was terrible from the opening game last season mate. It depends on what system Koeman intends to play, if he wants to play with 1 DM player then I can't see that being McCarthy personally. There is an argument that he's better playing further up the pitch, but I doubt there'll be a slot there come the close of the window.
After agreeing a deal in principle and allowing us to discuss terms with him, a bit snide that like, but I still expect that one to go through - undisclosed fee.
Oh and btw http://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/everton-fc-return-improved-bid-11702245
Well that's fair enough, they allowed you to talk to the player on the understanding you were willing/wishing to buy him. Now all you have to do is offer an amount that is agreeable to them.
No. They allowed us to speak to the player as they accepted the deal put to them in principle. They subsequently changed their minds after the player agreed terms and was house hunting in the NW. Twatish behaviour, but sadly common place in football, so we'll pay them a few more quid and they'll agree a lesser settlement on his loyalty payment. As I said - undisclosed
I think you misunderstand the term "in principle". The agreement is usually based on the questions are you prepared to sell player X.......Yes, can we talk to him and see if he is willing to come to us.....Yes, ok thanks. At that point if a player shows some interest an offer will be made and the bargaining will begin, It suits all party's that way.
Can we speak to your player? How much are you offering? We can talk about that later? Stop talking utter bollocks
Not talking bollocks mate. What do you think the difference is between X have made a bid of Y for player Z and X have an agreement in principle with team Y to buy player Z. Had you made the bid and had it accepted then all that would be required is the players agreement and a medical pass. As it stands then you have been allowed to talk to the player (because they are willing to sell at the right price) but have not put a sufficient bid in to satisfy the club. Had you put in a bid in the first place they may have just said no chance, as it is you gave them the impression you were serious about buying him and have now got cold feet.
Behave ffs Agents tap up players via other agents on behalf of the buying club to ensure there's an interest. They then approach the players current club and try and negotiate a deal. Formal permission to speak to the player is only given to the interested club once a fee is agreed. Thats what's happened here, they gave permission and then turned turtle, that's not the normal process. You're talking absolute ****e
So when a story is being written how do you differentiate between the terms X have made a bid X have had a bid accepted X have an agreement in principle What are the principles of the deal exactly, That a bid has been accepted, if so why not say that? That the players club are willing to sell under the right circumstances (ie, the player is willing to move)? Seems to me the second is most likely, then all that is required is the fee to be agreed.
