So this thread should now be largely complete the original intent: track actual progress over season We have a clear bad period on block 6. which we all know about. 2 points from 12 is where we lost out and this cost us any chance of 2nd and now prob 3rd too. Our trend over season points to 74 points. = draw and win. Our last 5 games were: WWLWD = 10/15 points which again suggests 4 points out of 6 I would then point out goals both scored and conceded you can see two clear periods. bock 6 and 9 where goals have dipped... and who's been out Mane... not rocket science this.... HOWEVER.... look at goals conceeded we have been generally leaking all season about 5 goals every 4 games... BUT... the only period where this affected us was block 6 where we conceded 7 in 4 games (including 3 v swansea) Strangely however if you look at this theres no one player missing, Matip missed the swansea game, lovern the hull game. In hsort we didn't really dig in in this time period and the whole team seems to just not fight. Bascially again 2-3 v an awful swansea side and 0-2 away to hull under new manager (but still a poor side) was what happened In block 9 you can see the goals again fall off a cliff but this time the goals against are really low and we get 7 points... again not rocket science. this all suggests to me that... again nothing you all don't know already... is that the only way we can really go without mane is to focus on not conceding first and getting one goal. so for me this suggest we can't carry anyone like wijanldum hwo vanishes form games or origi so we need the likes of Can, sturridge, Coutinho, firmino, lallana in the side here My team for last two thereofre is: Mingolet Clynre Matip Lovren Milner Lallana Lucas Can Firmino Sturridge Coutinho. I would sub on wijnaludm for lucas on 70 odd mins.
BTW none of the baove actually really means anyhting does it? it just says score a lot and concede a little and you get a lot of points. what matters now is bravery and overcoming our issues for fight for last 6 available points ot fall over the line.
