I'm assuming that all the permanent deals Sven wants to make aren't willing to stay unless we get promoted, hence why we are waiting til the summer. If we go up I expect at least Naughton and Yakubu to sign permanents.

Look at it this way, we've got the Yak, Naughton and Van Aanholt until the end of the season, Bamba on a perm which looks a great signing, and we haven't lost Wellens or King. We've also got another goalkeeper which everyone was saying we needed. I would have liked a midfielder for cover but overall that sounds good business to me <ok>

I can't stress enough how much we need to get promoted.

We´ll make the lottery that is the play offs. An interesting end to a season that started so badly.

I think Sven has worked wonders. The only problem is he did his main business at the beginning of the window which has left the end seeming a bit flat, with only the signing of trialists we already knew about.

I would've like permanent signings but think Sven has done what he has been able to do.

Just shows how far the club has come when there is disappointment in the air. Yakubu was stellar enough for me. To be fair I think we did the most good business in the championship which is where we are competing.
Its obvious Sven is keep the powder dry until the summer when we know which league we will be in.

Judging by how much Andy Carroll went for Sven was smart by not spending big money. Matty Fryatt went for around 1M, does that mean Carroll is 35 time the player Fryatt is. No, Carroll is an average played and i wouldnt have payed more then 5M for him if i was a manager

English players are so over priced.

    James Milner-30M
    Andy Carroll-35M

Both 2 average players nothing special, no wonder as a country we are crap all of our players are over hyped and they start to believe that are world beaters when quite clearly they arent. Look at Charlie Adam, Blackpool payed 500K for him and then wanted 10M for him. He is a very good championship player and an average prem player, so yes im glad Sven didnt throw money around like confetti and at the end of the season he will have players scouted for along time so we know we will be getting our moneys worth
Thats is ridiculous Spurs payed less then 10M for Rafael Van der Vaart

Have we gained financially this transfer market after the sale of Matty and the bargain purchase of Bamba? Or has the Yak completely destroyed the war chest with his weekly wages alone?

I wouldn't say in his brief Premiership career so far, he'd be classed as merely "average". He's no superstar, but he's proved to be more than just an average Prem player. I'd say currently his price tag of £10million is better value than £35Million on Carroll. He's not worth £10m, but in the current market and silly prices, I'd say it was closer to reality than £35m on Carroll.

He was Blackpool's best player last season and close if not their best player in the Premiership. He's more than average....

Carroll has scored 9 in 17 games or something this season so he is premier league class.

Especially seeing that he plays for Newcastle who aren't exactly brilliant.
