Exactly ! I don't go for this link of money spent is equal to ambition. And by the way guys if you look at that link above, that is for the two transfer windows per season not one. So recent history shows that we will probably spend about £20m-£25m combined. I think that is enough for a club of our size, and looking at other clubs who have spent heavily, Liverpool £200m in two seasons , and 6 points ahead of us. QPR who spent £100m who are relegated and 30 odd points beneath us. Spending huge amounts of money is not needed. Thought you'd get that by now.
I get it sir, but,as I posted I expect transfer fees to escalate due to the competition of clubs buying to,try, and stay in the PL due to the financial rewards from 2016 onwards. We are moving into another era.
Yes but other players came free, and we swapped with Spurs on others. I still say that the club won't sanction a spending spree, no matter what people here think.
How much do we need to spend on a striker baring in mind we spent £15m on Bony and £8m on Gomis ? ..Im sorry but £25m - £30m is not going to be enough for our 5th season especially when we are in the market for 5 players and maybe 6.....The maths don't work out....
Judging by players we are being linked with and not naming any the following may be necessary:- Goalkeeper 4,000,000 Fullback 5,000,000 Midfielder 8,000,000 Winger 5,000,000 Striker 8,000,000 Total 30,000,000 I doubt all of this will be paid up front as it is normal to pay in instalments witth add ons coming in to the equation.. Personally I don't think we need a new winger as hopefully Dyer will get his form back and then we will have four first teamers. This may then allow us to pay more for a striker. I am assuming the club have already budgeted for the academy as we are hoping to apply for academy one status this summer, as we will have to wait another three years if we don't.
£8m for a striker ? I think we need better than that next season.....We seen the difference between an £8m and a £15m striker for ourselves, ..Bony is a much better and more consistent than gomis is.......we may get lucky but its a hell of a risk to take with the money that will be on offer next season...we need to make sure we get the best striker we can and that is more than £8m....
Gomis finished as our top scorer Dai, having started a similar amount of games as Bony Credit where it's due, but he has been a very good replacement so far now that he's up and running.
Gomis is not in the same class as bony valley. A better striker who is consistent is needed, I like gomis and have backed him when others have said get rid but i still say we need better if we want to do well next season...
I think people are going to be let down then, because there is no way that our club will spend the kind of money people are saying above. The problem with fans is that they are trying to force the club to make rash decisions, that is why we've had a Portsmouth & Leeds fiascos in the past. Thankfully we have Huw in charge who won't spend this ridiculous amount of money being suggested. I will eat my hat if £30m is spent in both forthcoming windows, unless its to replace players we actually sell on. If you want that kind of money spent, tell me who do we sell? Because those kind of figures come with high salaries, the fact is we can't afford that being spent then our wage structure increases to a level that means we are making a loss.
How much will we spend on Bony's replacement? Considering what we spent to bring Bony here, then is it reasonable to expect Huw to spend around that same figure if it becomes necessary? I think we will be looking in the ball park of between £8 to £15 Million for his replacement. Clearly the Striker position is critical, Gomis is no spring Chicken and I see the club making this signing the priority, other signings may cost modest amounts or be out of contract signings, Huw doesn't like spending, but he does see the issues at this level of our front men............
The reason I put 8 mill for a midfielder is that I saw this is the fee for the Rumanian, whose name I can't remember, that Jenkins has confirmed we are interested in.
