This thread is for posting any ante post bets (other than the Cheltenham Festival, which has its own thread). Feel free to add in any ante post "good things" Just watched the Deauville race that Swanny put up. Desert Skyline ran a cracker of a race and I immediately had to race to see in which races Stradivarius is entered I would back him in both. Must win at least one of those
And from the Arc thread, holding ante post slips on Enable 20/1 and Highland Reel 33/1. Not real ones of course
To be honest stick, I haven't looked at the race. I just think this Stradivarius could be something special over 1mile 6f and beyond. And just drool over this pedigree
Interesting shout. Good hoss this lad. EDIT: Very interesting in fact having just scanned the market. Apart from Mite Bite you've mainly injured horses or Irish horses more likely to go Lexus and dubious stayers also not likely to go. Might actually follow you in on this one, this horse really impressed me the day he won after Cheltenham.
Yes Beefy, although he didn't beat a great deal at Uttoxeter, he certainly won well enough. 33/1 is fairly big - he is currently 10/1 fav for the Hennessy/Ladbroke so the question is, if he appeared in the latter and won, would the yard risk him to run a big race at Crimbo? Just over 3 weeks between races so it's a big ask but still worth a poke imo.
American currently has an official rating of 157 which might see him carrying somewhere between 11-00 and 11-06 in the Hennessy (depending obviously on what else runs) - certainly a weight which can be carried to victory, as has been shown in the last 5 years. I would think that will be his first target of the season and, as you rightly point out, there isn't much of a gap between Hennessy and King George. Obviously a lot will depend on Thistlecrack's well-being but at the moment I like 2 from the Munir/Souede ownership for the King George - Top Notch (20-1) and Bristol de Mai (25-1). Top Notch will love the sharp 3 miles round Kempton and 20-1 at this stage seems fair as I am pretty confident Nicky Henderson will have this race in mind for him (he doesn't strike me as a Hennessy type, too speedy). Off 159 I can see the Twister wanting to go Hennessy with Bristol de Mai BUT with another summer on his back and hopefully having filled out a little he could step up once more on his form from last season and turn into a true Grade 1 staying chaser. The other fascinating aspect for me at this stage is whether they will aim Altior at the King George. I don't believe they will,I think connections will think they can dominate the 2 mile division after Douvan was shown to be beatable.
Any horse is beatable if they aren't right Oddy. Douvan was wrong before the race and should have been pulled up after a couple of fences when the jockey (by admission) finally realised. Why he persevered is still a mystery to me. Interestingly, Simon Rowlands (Timeform) agreed with me on the latter
I know it's a risk playing Willie Mullins bingo this far out but in regards to his chasers I don't think it would be out of the realms of possibility to see them line up like this... Champ Chase: Yorkhill (nutcase talented enough to win whatever he turns up in) RyanAir: Djackadam (Slim chance in the Gold Cup and 2m 5f ideal) Gold Cup: Douvan (Altior a huge obstacle over 2m and worth a punt to try and duff up Sizing John again) I know that is going to be Marmite for people. I know it is little to no chance of it going that way - just the way I would lean if I was loaded enough to make Ricci and Wylie an offer they couldn't refuse
