Best Driver: Tough one, but for me Alonso. Although almost a lap down to the limping lead Ferrari, a maxed out drive, a tough overtake and a sense of humour at the end.
Worst Driver: A few to consider, Palmer for his teammate delta, KMag for just generally being a knob, Bottas being unable to hang on the back of the slow leader. All things considered Max, threw away a potential race win for both himself and his team mate. Rookie error, unnecessary and very costly.
Best Rookie/New Driver: DiR, for the situation. Puts into perspective what JB achieved at Monaco though!
Best Team: Ferrari, front row lock out, 1-2 race finish with a damaged leading car and a stunning rear gunner drive by Kimi. Merc for have a very fast Lewis with a very sporting gesture from both driver and team.
Surprise Team: Has to be McLaren.
Worst Team: Williams - Big problems here now.
    Best Overtake: Alonso on Sainz

    Most Surprising Result: McLaren
Least Surprising Result: The usual drivers being trounced by their team mates.
Funniest moment: Ricc, trying to be diplomatic on his retirement. I would say KMag for his "suck my balls" but I really question is overall worth and attitude?
Excuse of the week: Anything DiR says

Special Mention: Lewis, probably didn't have to relinquish but did anyway. I'm always highly critical of him but fair play, although of all his previous refusal to follow team orders, this was probably the one he should have #ironic

Best Driver: i thin alonso by a mile. Fastest lap? 6th? Heroic.

Worst Driver: I agree Palmer has lost it under too much pressure. Verstappen was an idiot.

Best Rookie/New Driver: DiR imo is only rookie out there now.

Best Team: I agree on Ferrari. Were dominant. Merc were a real team there though.

Surprise Team: McLaren didn't blow up.

Wiorst Team: Williams are awful but special mention tomorrow for going backwards all year

    Best/only Overtake: Alonso on Sainz

Most Surprising Result: 6th for Alonso or a 1/2 for Ferrari here?
Least Surprising Result: di resta being dead last
Funniest moment: I prefer Alonso meme gag.
    Excuse of the week:

Special Mention: Hamilton for giving team mate back the slot.

    Best Driver: Alonso
Worst Driver: Max, I don't think it'll be the only time this season he does Danny in.
    Best Rookie/New Driver:
    Best Team: Ferrari
Surprise Team: considering everything that has gone on over the last few years, McLaren (but not Honda), 2 points finishes and a FL
    Worst Team: Williams
Best Overtake: Mr Alonso on Sainz as it was the only one I remember

Most Surprising Result: Fastest lap for McLaren
Least Surprising Result: Di Resta, though I thought he did okay, he was in a floundering Williams with no chance to it up beforehand. I blame Massa for not being sick earlier.
    Funniest moment: "suck my balls"
    Excuse of the week:

Special Mention:Vettel, nursing a sick car to win, I don't think Kimi could've made it stick even if he had been allowed to try. Hamilton and Bottas for their team work, 3 points lost here could mean 7 gained elsewhere.
Best post from the race thread:
Race Rating: 7/10 I quite enjoyed from 1st pit-stop til about 55ish, sick car in front on a tight twisty track meant it wasn't a foregone conclusion, even though it did turn out that way.

Best Driver: Alonso for all the reasons already stated.
Worst Driver: Verstappen for the rush of blood to the head
Best Rookie/New Driver: Di Resta did a decent job considering the circumstances.
    Best Team: Ferrari
Surprise Team: Mclaren for actually being half decent!
Worst Team: Williams. Track might not have suited them, and Di Resta came in late, but they might have even offered less threat than Sauber.
    Best Overtake: Alonso on Sainz

Most Surprising Result: Alonso fastest lap, Kvyat having a quiet race?
Least Surprising Result: Palmer getting trounced, despite a decent qualifying
Funniest moment: Kimi "There's no point saying a few words in Finnish, they all speak English anyway"
Excuse of the week: Impressed with Di Resta for actually seeming quite content and not offering an excuse!

Special Mention: Kimi could have jumped Vettel at the first stops, or attacked him towards the end for the win. Both him and Hamilton were consummate team players.

    Best Driver: Alonso.
Worst Driver: Was face-Palmer worse than Ericcson this time? Probably.
Best Rookie/New Driver: Got to hand it to di Resta. With zero experience in the car and having been out for three years and with no free practice, he wasn't far off. I can think of other current who would be unlikely to achieve that.
Best Team: Ferrari were the class of the field in terms of outright pace, although Vettel's problem meant he was unable to show it. And Mercedes for just being plain classy.
Surprise Team: Everyone's saying McLaren but in all honesty, my only slight surprise was that it kept going. That chassis is good and Hungaroring makes much less demand upon power units than most other circuits. This does not detract from Alonso's outstanding performance.
    Worst Team: Williams.
    Best Overtake: Alonso v Sainz.

Most Surprising Result: Alonso set the fastest lap. I certainly didn't see that coming!
Least Surprising Result: Ferrari screwed Raikkonen with an unnecessarily early pit stop to maximise Vettel's chance of winning.
Funniest moment: Alonso's chilled out parc ferme! How cool was that?!
Excuse of the week: Raikkonen's logical response to excuse himself from extra workload.

Special Mention: Has to be Hamilton for such unusual sportsmanship.

Best Driver: Alonso by far. at last he could show his race craft talent.
Worst Driver: Bottas. Undeserved of his podium. He should have been sitting about 3 seconds behind hamilton waiting to earn his position back.
Best Rookie/New Driver: Vandoorn, points on the board but far away from Alonso. Im still not sold on him.
Best Team: Ferrari, Good recovery to seal a 1-2 after the silverstone disaster
Surprise Team: Mclaren though we expected them to be up there really
Worst Team: Williams. They were out of sorts even before massa's illness
    Best Overtake: Alonso on Sainz

Most Surprising Result: Hamilton giving up points
Least Surprising Result: Raikkonen on the podium at hungary
Funniest moment: Raikkonen refusing to speak his native tongue
Excuse of the week: Di Resta blaming his performance on 'Lack of speed'

Special Mention: Vettel needs a little recognition for his win I guess. It looked difficult for him And he was slower but still on good pace. faster than Verstappen and Bottas
Best post from the race thread:
Race Rating: 6/10 wasnt great. Hopefully the 100bn investment could help make the track more overtake friendly

Good call. I agree: it's almost been overlooked by other events.

He had Kimi playing ball behind him though under team orders not to attack.

Vettel being left open to the Mercedes would have been a different story. As it was, Kimi having DRS following Vettel meant it was virtually impossible for the Mercs to benefit from their own DRS to get past.

Kimi must be paid an awful lot of money to accept being the no.2.

    He is paid a lot

As to the rest, No it wouldn't, it would be the same story, as the only time Hamilton got close to Kimi, who was limited to Vettel's pace, was when they were lapping back-markers, Hamilton got within DRS for a lap or 2, then dropped back out of DRS, he could do nothing about Kimi except follow. The other Merc, the one Lewis couldn't overtake, failed to keep up with Vettel's pace and dropped back 7 seconds. The only way Kimi would've got passed is if Ferrari had ordered Vettel to let him through, and then the Mercs would've been stuck behind Vettel instead of Kimi. The merc is a fast car in clean air, not so much in the wash.

Then if you are saying that "The only way Kimi would've got passed is if Ferrari had ordered Vettel to let him through, and then the Mercs would've been stuck behind Vettel instead of Kimi. The merc is a fast car in clean air, not so much in the wash." Are you saying that the Ferrari is also is a fast car in clean air, not so much in the wash? If it is not the case, why would you think Kimi could not overtake Vettel? Just asking...:emoticon-0133-wait::emoticon-0112-wonde

Mainly due to the nature of the track, it's a bit of a fast Monaco so you need either the other driver to make a mistake or have a car that's a bit faster. The only real place to make a move is through the first 3 corners, Vettel's lap pace problem was because he had to keep off the kerbs, and you don't need to use the kerbs until the 4th corner. I think the Ferrari is better in the wash than the Merc, relative to how they perform in clean air, as Mercedes focus since they bought Brawn has been qualifying (ie, clean air) pace.
