I could of course tear each religion to pieces but much more intelligent and interesting than me have already done so. All one has to do is read God is Not Great by Hitchens and all the eduction needed is there. Particularly if you look at the sections on health, killing, systematic child abuse, and you soon realise religion and it's leaders are evil. The Old Testament and the New Testament are torn to pieces. Of course religion is an excuse to enslave and kill. Given the books tell them the circumstances in which it's ok to do so. It's then just a case of making it fit the situ. The point is for me as an atheist and humanist, it's never ok and only man would come up with such texts. Hence it's man made. And made by men who were let's face it, fairly primitive.
We agree to a point - it is down to man. Man created religion also, so it all comes back to the evil of mankind eventually.
Religion has been, and continues to be, a source of a lot of good in this world. However, in order to use religion for good you have to ignore a hell of a lot of scripture which encourages ****ishness. Not surprisingly, it is also the source of a hell of a lot of ****ishness from those who choose not to ignore the parts which encourage it.
