To be fair Klopp always gone down the route of developing players rather than going and buying 4/5 players at 40m a pop. In Germany can probably get away with it with better technical youth players and where transfer fees are exaggerated but in the Prem it's a much tougher task to do that because Hebert quality youth isn't there and the competition amongst the league is so high you get no real time to bed players in and develop them. Principles are good and would love him to develop our current crop and get them fighting for the title, is it likely to happen, who knows in a few years but the way the Prem is going, money talks at the moment.
There is no question that money needs to be spent to win the league now. However, I think it's key to bring in the right places. IMO an ideal window would have been a first-team LB (Ricardo Rodriguez? £13m), a DM (William Carvalho, £35m) and a first-team quality CB. Had we covered those positions in addition to Salah, I reckon we'd have a decent shot at the title this year. (Would probably have convinced Coutinho to stay another year too)
Would agree with everything but the last bit. His head's been turned, and I doubt anything we can do would prevent that.
It might help in the conversation though. We've shown ambition in this transfer window but couldn't get out main targets. We should be looking at the alternatives now. It's crazy that we are leaving it so late. That's if we are bothering at all. There's no sign that an alternative CB has been identified. Here's a conspiracy theory for you, we'll buy a CB, Southampton will then accept a bid for VVD from City or Chelsea.

Yeah, just read the article on Sky Sports, no smoke without fire. The "FSG out" movement will be in overdrive. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=f...archos&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#xxri=3
I think the fact that we haven't moved on from the targets could suggest we're still confident of getting them done.
I do. The Soton chairman came out and said VVD isn't for sale but why have they allowed Chelsea, City and Liverpool to speak to the player? Before anyone mentions the whole tapping up casE - If we actually did tap up, why didn't they proceed with reporting us? If they were genuinely upset, why didn't they report the other two clubs. My take on it is Liverpool are treading very carefully because a) we don't want to piss Soton off because they have something that we want and b) we're in deep **** over the Stoke teenager case which is very serious.
No, no. Saints buy the cb... then 40mil bid from Chelsea.. vvd posted on Twitter an image of himself in London yesterday... already tapped up but no Chelsea complaint for saints....saints accept 40mil bid, off do not bid as they said thry ended interest. Or in other words I hope all reds realise that what I said at least 6 weeks ago to Jimmy is true. Fsg and Edwards pissed their pants and really did end all interest in vvd. We will not bid on the guy at all. All this nastiness out of southampton fans is a waste of their energy cos we have been out of it since the grovelling apology.
With respect the order of events......he was speaking to people months ago. Southampton chairman spoke clearly this week. You calling him a liar? As for the stoke lad... do you think Barca, atletico or real give a crap. Nope, just serve their punishment. That event and the vvd clumsiness just show a serious lack of competence at our club. Lfc need to change.
