****ing this ^ Exactly what I said when watching it and Wijnaldum was an abject coward there. Two of their goals offside, though
You seem to be suggesting that I have some blind prejudice against Moreno, but I assure you that's not true. I wanted him to do well at the beginning, and I'd still like to see him do well now. My assessment was, and always is, based on what I see. He wants to get forward all the time, commendable for the most part, but he needs to learn when it's safe to do so.
I also want to point out that I wasn't singling Moreno out for criticism, I was just replying to someone who said they thought he'd had a decent game. I rarely pick on anyone unless they do something glaringly bad, a team stands and falls together as far as I'm concerned. However, we do analyse personal performances often enough, and that was what I saw.
Not so Jimmy. If a player is level with, or behind the ball they are onside, ergo the ball has to go forward, effectively, for someone to be offside. The only exception I can think for this is if a player runs back to retrieve a sideways ball when they start in an offside position.
Not sure that's correct Donga. A player is 5 yards in an offside position. A player on the wing and behind spots him and takes advantage of the wind blowing towards the goal hits a long ball backwards and the ball is carried by the strong wind and ends up with the target player. Surely he is deemed offside even though the ball was kicked backwards?
First off the wi d would have to be what 400mph... so..... least of anyone's worried to flag that one.
Actually, there is another two instances, of course. A throw-in, or from a corner. I remember seeing the latter when Dirk Kuyt scored from a Gerrard corner almost right on the near post (Gerrard had taken it right on the edge of the arc). It was initially disallowed by the linesman's flag (dickhead) but after protests and a consultation from the lino who admitted that Kuyt was the first to touch it, it was then allowed. European game, I think. I also saw a lino give offside against Maxi from a throw at Anfield @ 7 years ago, and wasn't it last season against Chelsea that Hendo was booked for protesting (correctly) that Milner was given offside for chasing back to get a pass that went backwards?
Well it does kinda make a difference...of two extra points dropped because of an incorrect call by a lino
I reckon all their goals were offside We may have the best league in the world but not the best refs.
We can't make excuses for dropped points. We could go through the season counting the "dropped points from ref or lino's errors". No we got one point out of 3. We should have got the game sewn up well before the equaliser. To blame the result on refereeing decisions is burying our heads in the sand, I doubt Klopp will use these as an excuse (I hope not anyway).
