England's women through to last 8 of Euros and will play France.

Spain also through. Portugal and Scotland out.

 

Feel a little sorry for the Scots, they put up a good fight. First game was the killer.

Do they use some weird ranking system in women's football to determine the group placings? Despite having a better goal difference, and having beaten them, and having scored more goals than them.... Portugal are below Scotland? That makes literally no sense.

 

It's done on head to head record in the games between the tied teams.

In this case there were three tied teams:

Spain 2 - 0 Portugal
Scotland 1 - 2 Portugal
Scotland 1 - 0 Spain

So Spain end with GD of +1
Portugal end with GD -1
Scotland end with GD =0

And that's why one more goal for Scotland would have put them through instead of Spain, their GDs would have swapped over

 

That makes sense. Given how elitist English women's football is, and the fact that I have a Portuguese friend, I found myself coming close to supporting Portugal last night. Well, till I turned over and watched Iron Man 3.

Why on earth would you watch such an awful film? It's iron man not iron men.

 

I liked it. I like the way it portrays Tony Stark as suffering from anxiety/PTSD as a result of the events of Iron Man 2, and how it shows a certain vulnerability which you don't often see portrayed in super heroes. 'Flaws' (though it'd be harsh to describe anxiety as a flaw) are an interesting part of a character's development I feel.

I might be disillusioned with women's football, but I cheered so loudly when Denmark scored that winning goal against Germany. Even my GF got into the spirit of the occasion and cheered with me!

 

After Sunderlands first team lost 5-0 to Celtic B Darron Gibson went out and got bollocksed and slagged off a load of his team mates

 

Come on ladies, lets do this!

 

At least I can support us in this match, as we're the underdogs.

Close game with France looking very marginally better....not that that means much...Spain had over 70% possession and England still won 2-0. England are strong in defence, but so are France....few opportunities. Wide open.
