Total gits. I'm only left with 365 now who will give me BOG and my usual stake is only around a tenner!

The joke is that I had never had a free bet from Paddy Power until about 5 weeks ago when they told me I had been enrolled to their VIPP Club and if I staked five bets in a week I would get a free bet on a Monday. For the first four weeks my free bet lost, this Monday I had a 13/8 winner with it and now they shut it down. Joke!

It's most likely that you have been restricted because they have picked up on the fact you consistently get value. Despite all the promotions designed to lure you in, none of the bookmakers want to entertain gamblers who understand how to turn the numbers in their favour. It doesn't really matter to them if your account is in profit or loss, if anything in your betting patterns flag you up someone who knows how to make the odds work for you and not them, they'll restrict you.

You will probably find aswell that your account now has heavy restrictions, in terms of what you can stake on a race. When this happened to my PP account, I noticed aswell that I'd try and have £100 on a horse for example and an alert would come up saying maximum for this selection is £25. So I just don't use PP anymore.

Having worked in the past as a bookmaker myself, and having been on the receiving end of having my online accounts closed or restricted a number of times, I can actually see both sides of the story.

Bookmakers at the end of the day are running a business, so wether we like it or not they are completely within their right to close down or restrict a customers bets. A bet is a 2 way thing, and both sides have to agree it. Bookmakers cannot force a punter to back a certain selection, and neither can a punter force a bookmaker to take a bet on that same selection. Both party's must agree to the bet.

I restricted many customers back in my time, as it was my job to ensure that i made as much profit as possible.

I know people will say bookmakers shouldn't offer BPG, if they aren't prepared to honour it. But because there are so many mug punters, and pretty much every bookmaker online offers it, PP for example would lose half their horse racing trade if they stopped doing it. So they have no choice but to operate the way they do. Let the mug punters have all the promotions, and restrict the shrewd ones.

I can honestly say that if bookmakers had no restrictions, and allowed all punters to bet what they liked, and for as much as they liked, most of them would be out of business in 6 months. There are just to many shrewd punters out there just waiting to pounce on any error by the bookies, that end up spoling it for the casual recreational gambler.

I tried to back a horse with Ladbrokes last night, they offered me £3 each way for Christs sake. Its pretty immoral when they only want to entertain the losers! And of course when someone does catch them out then they refuse to cough up, quoting yet another spurious rule.

I know how you bet though Stick, you rely on getting fancy prices about horses that you know are going to move in the market either the night before or in the morning.

These prices are put up by bookmakers with the intention for your casual gambler, to have a few bets the night before, as they may be at work the next day. Bookmakers do not put them up so shrewd gamblers like yourself can get on horses at 12s that will go off at 6s on a consistent basis.

Youll still be able to get bets on, but you'll have to bet at either the board prices near the race time, most shops have a guarentee that they'll accept board price bets with no questions asked, or you'll have to use the exchanges.

If you owned your own shop and someone like yourself was coming in the night before and consistantly beating the book, you too would tell them to do one <laugh>

PP gone to sh!te, even their cheltenham promotions are a joke now.I'm just with Skybet and happy with the service so far, alot of enhanced odds offers & money back specials which you will seldom see with Powers and Boyle Sports.

Ste - is there any way to lodge cash to a Skybet account here in Ireland as they don't have the shops like PP and Boyles ? I don't want to use the online deposit option as it shows on the bank statements and I'd prefer to keep them off record

I was in the same boat mate and actually used the old mans credit card as I didn't want to have a record on my bank statements especially as I'm looking to get a mortgage next year. Not sure about the lodge option tbh, best give them a call and see if it's a runner.
