Was just going to post that! An official publication too. The club has a load of questions to answer here. Something just isn't right.
The announcement by Celtic that 900 season ticket holders in the standing section will have their membership rights suspended for two home games and their right to attend the Sunderland and Partick Thistle and Rosenberg away games also having been removed, is one which we feel requires comment. Whatever ones view on the wisdom or otherwise of the banners displayed by the Green Brigade at the Linfield game - a decision for which the group has taken full responsibility - the application of such excessive and poorly-targeted sanctions cannot be justified or defended. This sanction has been applied to children as well as to people who were not in attendance at that game -their ticket not having been activated. It has now been extended to incidents at other games which had not been previously raised as problematic. It has involved safety issues which were actually caused by the excessive and unwarranted police presence within the section that night. Such a scattergun approach by the PLC seems to have the purpose of dividing the support and causing tensions within that section rather than dealing sensibly and proportionately with the kind of difficulties which arise from time to time in any club. As a Celtic supporters' organisation, we have the interests of the support as our primary aim, and division is not in any of our interests. As the first proposers of the standing section we also have an interest in defending this imaginative and much-admired initiative. As a fellow organisation to the Green Brigade, it is not our purpose to agree with every decision they make, and neither would they expect us to, but they are our comrades and will remain so, particularly when they are under attack. We call on Celtic PLC to open discussions immediately with the supporters in that section, including representatives of the Green Brigade, in order to resolve this issue in a reasonable and proportionate manner. It was the police who were letting off flares then? Sneaky bastards. This is the sort of pish that really gets my goat, it's not their fault, it's someone else's. Same as their garbage about how the GB looked at the safety of other fans before letting off flares. ****ing idiots.
I think the point is the Editor of the Celtic View at that time may have done it on purpose but it's more than likely a coincidence, but the main point is that Brendan clearly did not like his image being used for political purposes and he's made it crystal clear.
No matter how you look at it, it is complete double standards. I'll guarantee the front cover of the view had been completely forgotten about by the club. Not a massive fan of the GB, but I have so many issues with the club here, I don't know where to begin!
I have Zero issues with the club, I am however ****ing furious that these ****s are once again dragging our name through the mud and giving the press a ****ing field day. I'm sick to the back teeth of people who think they (and their politics) are more important than the club.
Why does that matter? You can clearly see the 900 fans in 111 surrounded by the police who were blocking the stairway. Its not even debatable.
He clearly does not think the Poppy is political, maybe you should email him and show him how wrong he is.
I was quite proud of Celtic fans when they had their political flag rally for palestine. Orchestrated by the GB.
Whose responsibility is it to arrange security in celtic park? If its celtics then its pointless pointing it out.
I agree regarding those who harm the club. But...being charged £49 to watch a new team. Why???? No statement on the treatment of SS. (apologies if I missed it) Players attacked at both Ibrox and Linfield...Silence. Are the board really serious about seeking justice on Rangers EBT years? We are being led by the hand to take our seat at the back of the bus again, as it's clear as day, our board treat them as Rangers and want us all to go along with it. Sickened! I'm all for moving on now....to another sport/activity!
