It's NOT new - I've been going there for 3 years at least!! Fantastic beer garden though. Edit - Now in the revamped Bell - FANTASTIC. They have 500 mj bottles of Oakham Green Devil at £2.99 and it's 6% ABV.
Had a call today from the renal unit at NNUH - they want to see me tomorrow circa 1 p.m. lunchtime. Means I should be out of there by 2ish, so can have a meander round the fine city and check out the new look Bell for myself before getting the bus home
Ah yea! When I looked it up, it said 2017! But just looked elsewhere and says 2006! It was a very, very nice IPA. Will continue to keep an eye out for it. Nice news about The Bell! Was it rammed? Think we will wait until the initial wave to enthusiasm dies down. Edit- just seen your follow up post. I bet it's mental in there tonight!
I've tried with all my might but there are very few Grain beers I like. And no finer selection than the Plough with which to get acquainted with them. But apart from Harvest Moon (?) too heavy & malty for me. Great pub and garden for sure - plus open fire and candles only one night a week during winter.
I think that's an understatement!!! Service was good considering how busy it was and my steak was cooked to perfection. If you fancy a 'nightcap' when you're in there, I can definitely recommend the Oakham Green Devil in bottles!!
I wouldn't go there opening night for fear of seating and waiting time. To go there on opening night AND have a meal is ballsy!
Just a few seats left when I went in just before 7pm and I was above the Santander bank. I got my 14oz Aberdeen Angus within 15 minutes of ordering!!!
Did you try Norada Pale Ale on tap at The Bell? Hearing good things. Might pop in sometime on Saturday, going to give it a go.
I dunno what all that is about. Have you had a bad day mate? You seem in a bit of a tizzy tonight. Need a cuddle or something?
I think to go to a place as rammed as the Bell, on an opening night, after 2M spent on improvements, and going there expecting to get seated and order food. Is ballsy. Especially naked. Here's a cuddle then pudding.
