I have never found that the official site has ever been the carrier of much information and now it has morphed in to the Bristol Sport website and even found it's sneaky way onto my favourites list. The takeover of Bristol Sport and it's corporate waffle has irked me for some time mainly because it almost seems that City are another arm of Lansodwn's ambition to become some sporting guru to be held up as an example to all others.

There is no interest on my part to know anything about Lansdown and his other sporting ventures and now I have to read all the other corporate waffle regarding sports that I don't follow and of course that will include the annoying 30 second ads to watch a 10 second video. So I guess I have no other choice, not that my opinion was ever asked for, than to forgo my regular visit to watch the match highlights on BCFC Player which has also left the scene of the crime to pop up on some streaming site that will cost even more money and probably won't stream in Canada.

Nuts to the modern technology era that changes the norms of my life on a seemingly daily basis and then shove extra charges in my face and tell me it's in my best interests. Shove it up where the sun doesn't shine and Bah Humbug EH.
 
I like it, I also like to read up on the other Bristol sport teams. Nice to see us all working together to strive for better things. Don't get this hate for bristol sport...

I see no hatred, quite a lot of reasoned questioning why the progress of BCFC requires the existence of Bristol Sport. It is unnecessary, Bristol Sport does not have to be evident at all to provide support services.

Bristol City used to be about more. Its a West Country team. [HASHTAG]#makingbristolproud[/HASHTAG] half these Bristol Sport squad are not local and know **** all about BCFC.

I expect it will mean less suits. Roles in BCFC have less purpose and can be absorbed into other areas of Bristol Sport etc.
 
Less suits sounds good to me, but what's your thoughts on it Cliftonville? You've been generally against the kind of merging of City and Bristol Sport, interested to hear your take on it.

Sounds to me that in reality to the common fan not much will change but is that the case?

What I have consistently remarked upon is Bristol Sport (Mr Lansdown's vanity project) taking over what was BCFC and running and diluting the FC.

It is not necessary. There appears to be no successful model anywhere that operates as Bristol Sport does. Looking at best practice the B's, Bayern, Borussia, Barcelona require no alternative brand and business partner. BCFC does not require three (BS/Bristol City holdings/Ashton Gate stadium limited) to run itself. It does so because Mr Lansdown could take complete control (protect to a degree) the FC and its assets to restructure and service the debts he created. Good or bad there is now no need for four separate companies. And then there is the other sporting associates which bring bugger all value to the unnecessary Bristol Sport brand apart from Bristol rugby - They could exist as BCFC's tenants using BCFC's assets and services and no need for BS at all.

Footballing aspects of the FC are now under the control of people who would not know how to pump a ball up. That is the depth of their football, knowledge.

I may have it wrong regarding changes, I posted something in good faith, but if what I was told is true it moves BCFC further away from being BCFC and those successful B models.

Bristol Sport - BCFC will not resemble any obvious successful sporting model. It will be interesting to see what Jon Lansdown's role will be if there is a restructure.

There are many loopholes, legal ones that because they are "a loophole" can be taken advantage of .... and unless you have a in depth knowledge of corporations companies, I mean big companies, taxation and the like 99.9 % of us on here will not understand it/how it advantageous/ works. I have dabbled on the very edge of finance /investment and taxation . and know of certain aspects that can be advantageus so it wrong to state the reason is for SL take complete control (protect to a degree) the FC and its assets to restructure and service the debts he created The expansion of equity is a major point in restructuring loaning/ repaying

I don't think you know how finance and taxation works otherwise you would not make this statement, I have been doing my own books since 1981 and some of my simple" little taxation manoeuvres, legal ones fit this bill"

again please elaborate on who you mean and why? There may be a lot of confusion amongst fans about what and why things happen, who is in charge, who does what and why, but that is simply because they are 100% football supporters and have a lack of knowledge beyond the team, how they play results style, players tactics etc etc

BCFC is a company its product is football games. All companies have a chief and a management structure emanating from a board [ some of whom may draw a salary or payment] There is entirely NO NEED for a large number of people to be conversant with the product other than it is football groceries telecoms etc.. they have skills that they bring to the table.. some in their lifetime do so for a myriad of companies and products. That's the top table, below this you have the people with skills to do specialised work with respect the product ..
eg [ just because I know he is in cement ]
ROD next week his company is getting a new no 1 chief, his past 3 jobs have been in a butchery chain, telecoms company and high street store chain ... the nearest he has been to cement is probably walking on it, and calls concrete cement!!! but he may be the man who makEs RODS CO £m's of extra profit etc
eg City employ LEE as head coach, where as they wouldn't go for MARTIN TRESCOTHICK..simple horses for courses...........

It is not wrong it is Mr Lansdown’s own reasoning. He stated such at a Q &A in response to questioning from an accountant.

And that could have been achieved without the creation of Bristol Sport. Huge sporting organisations, he best of the best clubs in Europe do not create separate identities. Services could be provided to these sports now under Bristol Sport via a backroom operation. Bristol City Fc could have been at the apex of the sporting model not as an equal partner of other sports and subservient to Bristol Sport.

Mr Lansdown once compared Bristol Sport to Barcelona and stated "if it is good enough for Barcelona its good enough for Bristol",, but the models are entirely different autocratic v democratic, massive footprint from grass roots v no footprint even in South Bristol … I would of course not compare the football, but a similar model in miniature in Bristol would be an asset to the City and West Country.

If Mr Lansdown wants to be fair to all sports he could help to solve the lack of sporting facilities in Bristol by building a sports academy in South Bristol, and extend the activities of the Community trust.

Doug Harman. Was one of the creators of the five pillars. Zero expertise in football, also involved in appointing Mangers and their contracts. Andrew Billingham/Martin Griffiths have been involved in downsizing parts of Citys player pathway feeding players into the academy v the wishes of coaches, neither are qualified coaches ...
