A look at how they do things in New Zealand. The favourite Just Ishi proved too good. The riders certainly earn their keep.
The Brisbane satellite city of Ipswich has to be international yo the good folk of the UK, so I've posted the local Ipswich Cup replay. The winner Self Sense, number 6, from the 2 gate made a one act affair of the race. 10s into 5-2. In the green. Race 7. I hope it works. http://www.racingqueensland.com.au/...-Videos/IPSW/20170617/Races/1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9
Ok, this place is about an hour's country drive from my place, and one day I'm gunna get there. This my friends is the replay of the Kilcoy Cup. Where's Thatdragon gets the nod. Race 7. http://www.racingqueensland.com.au/...ting-Videos/KCOY/20170617/Races/1-2-3-4-5-6-7
Sweden's champion Propulsion claims the G1 Norrbottens Stora Pris for the second year running. He's from the two slot, started odds on and did all the bullocking outside the leader. A huge effort. The race is a leg of the Masters Series.
Yesterday another leg of the Trotting Masters Series was run. Going into the race, the number 2 rated horse in the series, Timoko had to be used up early to lead. The 19 rated Carabinieri had the last crack at him. Timoko No3, Carabinieri No 4, came from 3 back, on the outside to sit on Timoko.
For visitors who haven't seen the Ascot Gold Cup run yesterday. It turned into a massive duel as Big Orange, ridden a treat by James Doyle, and the fast finishing Order Of St George with Ryan Moore aboard, went hammer and tongs for the line.
The last G1 for the first half of the Japan season was run yesterday. The 2200m Takarazuka Kinen carries a cool 1,000,000 UK pounds for the winner. It's a race where fans get to choose some of the runners in the race. The 1-2 favourite Kitasan Black garnered the most votes. He's the JRA horse of the year, having won 3 G1s so far his season. He has 6 in total. Second favourite at 15-2 was Sciacchetra, just ahead of Satono Crown at 8-1. The winner is No 11, and is drawn the outside. Green and yellow, pink cap. Not a bad way to make a quick million.
The great Bold Eagle makes off with the G1 Prix Rene Balliere at Vicennes on the weekend. He paid 1.28 on the tote. Fantastic to see Valko Jenilat put in a valiant effort. He's one to be reckoned with in the next couple of years.
Champion Mounted 3 yo of his generation, Eye Of The Storm, took his mounted tally to 7 wins from 8 starts in taking out the G1 Prix d'Essai.
Draft Life made a one act affair of the G1 event for fillies and mares, the Grand Prix Du President De La Repunblique at Vincennes. She ran a race record. She No 10 and is in the white with red band, red and white cap. She's one of the last to go onto the track. What a win.
Forty eight year old Donna Philpott, an ex jockey, has today died after a barrier trial accident in Bendigo Victoria. It would seem that the horse she was aboard broke down and crashed to the turf and in the process, fell upon Donna. She died at the scene. The horse had to be euthanised. Mrs Philpott leaves behind a husband, Phil and two daughters, Jessie and Montana. please log in to view this image
Not averse to a hefty bint however hefty and pished a wee bit too much for a rather slim chap like myself! Been to Royal Ascot once with my Mum. Didnae really enjoy it; too British wi' the Royal Procession and all that Jazz. Strange thing about the contents of the clip is that I have seen similar behaviour at Longchamp on 'Arc' day and guess where the 'actors' came from? How come we (?) British cannot get smashed and behave ourselves and act with some decorum; especially when abroad!
Erm, I think it was all a slight misunderstanding. Think the hairless fatty in boxing pose must have lost his way from an 'old firm' confrontation?
Not quite as slim and debonair as the star of The 39 Steps, Goodbye Mr Chips and especially The Magic Box however not too bad for a sixty three year old punter with a liking for fried grub, Jack Daniel's and Franziskaner Weissbier.
