Foo fighters at glastonbury. Live now. Classy band. Cracking gig Best ive seen was Madness. At the original Madstock in Finsbury park Id love to see ac/dc. slipknot and ramstein live. Just for the experience. Other bands that are good live?
I saw a clip of that it did look class. For some reason I'm not usually all that bothered about seeing things live, some gigs are no doubt great and stand up routines are much better in person but for the most part I'm not into it.
First Aid Kit, stand out for me so far, not everybody's cup of tea but the harmonies were vintage Don and Phil.
Seen loads of bands. Was a big hobby through my 20s. Probably easier to say who were the let downs, I've seen so many great performances. Of the big acts who were a let down were Fun Loving Criminals who were rubbish and Amy Winehouse who just failed to turn up at all. Best live acts I've seen were probably Franz Ferdinand, Anti Nowhere League, The Buzzcocks and small time London band called the Rakes who I saw 6 times their live show was that good. But so many have been great.
Love live music. Anything anywhere. I love the fact that some guys, or girls, will just get up and play. Edinburgh is awesome for live pub music. As is Ireland! 2 great bands in our hotel this weekend had everyone up dancing. Love it.
Last band I saw was King Bee. A Newcastle funk band. Never heard of them till I saw them that night. Great show they put on. This is what I love about live music. Not the big bands who draw big crowds but the more intimate gigs like this where you see something new.
Saw them a few times, first time at the Bay must have been one of their first ever appearances, only a handful of people in and I stood right next to Kossoff, and actually wondered if he was blind as he never opened his eyes the whole set, saw him a few months later at another gig in the back room of a pub out in the sticks and as he walked past me he grinned and winked, I've often wondered if it was recognition or coincidence, the last time I saw them was at the Locarno in Sunderland and they were fantastic, real stars by then and great live performers, Kossoff was the star with Rodgers not far behind. The other great live band who just preceded them were Family but they never really came up with a record anywhere near there live performances, real shame as they were way ahead of the pack and John Peels favourite live band at the time, if I remember correctly.
I think " In my own time " and " Burlesque " we're reasonably successful hits for them, but you're spot on they were terrific live, Roger Chapman had a unique voice.
Loved Queen at Milton Keynes Bowl Stones (the only time I have paid to be in Sid James') Who at City Hall. Wish I'd seen Free. x
Billy butter balls and the crabshells for me thay are still on a farewell tour which started in 1972 and are due to finnish soon as they now have a van kindly donated by sid kipper and family.
and the best performance I've seen at Glasto was the Cure in 86, particularly memorable for the huge lightening storm that was going on overhead.
There's only one type of music and that's good music. I've been to about 25 gigs in the past two years, the most recent was the Dead Kennedys at the Carling Academy last week. Long live rock 'n' roll.
