More interested in signing Exeter's young striker Ollie Watkins to be honest......

Pompey are in discussions with the representatives of David Forde over a permanent Fratton Park stay, following his release from Millwall today, on a free transfer.

And Mark Catlin is also hopeful of retaining talented local trio Jack Whatmough, Brandon Haunstrup and Ben Close.

Ben Close has signed a new one-year Pompey deal, with the club holding an option for a further 12 months.
The 20-year-old midfielder has made 27 appearances since graduating from the Blues’ academy.
He played four times in cup games last season and spent the second half of the campaign on loan at National League side Eastleigh.
Close said: “I’m extremely happy to have signed a new deal to remain at Fratton Park.
“Now I’m ready to work hard and really kick on next season to try to nail down a starting place for Pompey.
“Hopefully this will be the year when I can get a regular run of games in the side. That’s what I’m looking to do.”

Mark Catlin still negotiating with both Jack Whatmough and Brandon Haunstrup. Also apparently talking to Noel Hunt's agent about a new contract.

Pleased to see this. He's a local lad and exactly what we should be doing. Hopefully he will either get around the squad or get a Lge 2 loan deal for a bit.

Since the arrival of new manager Kenny Jackett, we are now being linked with 27 year old, 6'1", right winger/midfielder James Henry. Ex Reading & Millwall, currently with Wolves, but I believe his contract expires soon. He is also a goalscorer - have a look at the following video:-

Pompey now linked (along with Wigan and Bradford), for 24 year old forward/winger Gavin Massey, available from Leyton Orient on a free transfer.

He scored a cracking goal against us at Fratton Park back in January.

Brandon Haunstrup signs a new Pompey deal:

Brandon Haunstrup has signed a new one-year Pompey deal, with the club holding an option for a further 12 months.

The 20-year old left-back has made six first team appearances since graduating from the Blues’ academy.

He made his debut in a cup victory over Derby in August 2015 and has also spent time on loan at Bognor and Sutton.

Haunstrup said: “I’m almost 21, so hopefully this will be the year when I get the chance to cement a place in the first team.

“Reserve team football is good, but there is no feeling like going out before a big crowd and competing with something at stake.

Apparently, Stanley Aborah has tweeted that he has not been offered a new contract by Kenny Jackett.

Shame, but I'm sure that Kenny knows best.

Shame as he looked half decent - but you have to let the new boss set his stall out. I hope we keep Linganzi as I think he's is good player to have in the squad, Very hopeful he will let some of the youngsters break in to the squad this year like Close and Haunstrup

Nathan Thompson signs Pompey contract, watched by asst. manager Joe Gallen.

League One side Portsmouth have signed Swindon Town captain Nathan Thompson on a two-year contract.

The 26-year-old defender was out of contract at the County Ground this month after spending his entire career at the Wiltshire club.

He is understood to have turned down a new deal to stay with Swindon following their relegation from League One last season.

Thompson is primarily a right full-back, but can also play centre-back.

According to The News, centre half Tom Davies could be on his way to National League side Tranmere Rovers on a free transfer, joining former Pompey team mates Ben Tollitt and Adam Buxton.

Not a great surprise if true, as he has never looked that convincing for us, when he has played, to my mind.

NOEL HUNT will not be returning to Pompey next season.

The striker won’t be offered a fresh deal by new Blues boss Kenny Jackett. Pompey’s assistant manager, Joe Gallen, confirmed his side are likely to look elsewhere for any striking additions. Hunt made 24 appearances after being brought to the club last summer, after leaving Southend.

Just five of those outings came as starts, with the 34-year-old bagging a single goal. Hunt struggled with injuries, however, with a groin issue and dislocated shoulder among the problems which kept him sidelined.

The Irishman now looks set to continue his playing career away from Fratton Park. Gallen said: ‘I’m pretty sure there will be no contract offer for Noel Hunt.’

Yeah I know 3rd eye - just put it on there to wind up poor old sensiblegreeny, as I know he can't keep off our site due to his complete and utter fascination with all things Pompey :)

Strong rumour that we are close to signing 31 year old goalkeeper Carl Ikeme from Wolves. Not a free agent, so no idea what kind of fee will be involved, but at 6' 3" in height, with heaps of experience, he would be ideal for us. Has also played 10 times for Nigeria.

Would be no bad thing - just hope they give the lad Bass a chance as our number two or loan him to a League 2/Conference club for development.
