According to Timeform Caravaggio is 1lb clear of Harry Angel but also has a "p"

I agree I think Crystal Ocean is ye most likely winner that's the one I've put in my scoop 6 but gone for Khalidi just coz it offers much better value with the price and I'm not massively keen on backing favourites

Permian won that race though remember and he was last off the bridle that day I just think he has a better cruising speed but need to hope he can stay.

And has recovered from his Derby exertions.

I think you need an improving animal for a race like this. Although you can't rule out the possibility of Mark Johnston getting further improvement out of Parmian, I think there is definitely more to come from Crystal Sea. As there probably is from a few of these, to be fair.

    Ascot 2.30 ALPHA CENTAURI 11/4
This looks the best juvenile we've got on these shores, unless the unknown American is something special I'd be totally confident this Harrington trained filly will explode clear in the last furlong to score decisively.

Not sure how Timeform could say Caravaggio should have a 'p' but not Harry. Cracking race in prospect. Possibly the race of the week. We'll see.

Agree with Alpha Centauri. Very solid. 11/4 is fair.

Permian is very fair at 6/1. Each way play for me.

Love Caravaggio but don't love the price. He could win but i'd prefer Harry Angel at 10/3 for a trainer i think does very well with his sprinters. If i had a top sprinting prospect there's only one place i'd send him in England - Clive Cox.

I would have liked Best Of Days but his fitness has to be taken on trust and Hugo Palmer is not exactly banging in the winners lately; hence I am on the other Godolphin horse (that owes me money!).

Crystal Ocean was the Stoute talking horse before the Dante – word even reached East Yorkshire from HQ about backing him for the Dante and the Derby. I did neither. He is the favourite because he bypassed Epsom whilst five of his rivals turned up.

I would not be put off Permian because Mark Johnston’s horses often revel in frequent trips to the track. After the race we could all be saying “how did one of O’Brien’s go off at that price?” if Sir John Lavery takes to the quick ground and restores some of his tarnished reputation.

You've all convinced me that Alpha Centauri is a pretty good thing in the first so am on that. Think the price is no more than fair because she's drawn in 1, who knows whether there will be a bias today and what side, but visually those two wins were impressive so worth chancing that she'd be good enough to overcome that anyway. I think i'd rather Best Solution each way at 10s rather than Permian at 6s so will have a little squeak on that also as cover for Crystal Ocean. Raced too close to the pace I thought in the derby but still beat Permian home. Stable in good form this week as well.

Am also going to have to have a little bit on Harrington's other runner Whitefountainfairy in this at ridiculous odds of 66/1. Only got a few lengths to find with Alpha Centauri on formlines and last time's win can be upgraded a little as got bumped about. Changed hands for £300,000 on Monday which is eyecatching. Stranger things have happened.

I know it's tradition, but can't stand all this procession business. "Come on plebs, wave at us privilleged ones!"

Edit: Neither me nor my spell-checker, can actually spell!

well where has this French horse come from !

then again in the Racing Post it says "Comfortable winner of both starts in the French provinces; perhaps unwise to dismiss her"

Well I did call it spot on, much the best on these shores only for an unknown Frenchy to just do her by a nose. Chapman might have a point, best horse possibly second. Much the story of the last two days <doh>

Caravaggio will no doubt be hard to beat but at odds on I will take him on. Just read a small piece in the Racing Post that BOUND FOR NOWHERE has been working with LADY AURELIA and that BFN has been doing better. LA won really well the other day, so for me BFN at 10/1 will be a good ew bet for me but I think could even win.

Suddenly the Derby form may not be as poor as we first thought.

CLIFFS OF MOHER looking an increasing certainty to win the Eclipse. If you have missed the 8's don't miss the 4's...!
