I'm extremely underwhelmed by this if I'm honest. I was by Poch as well and this worked out alright. I'll back him fully as I would with any manager but I don't really see how he will be a big improvement on Puel
Its cheaper to change a manager than half your first team. If gossip/reports are to be believed he fell out with the wrong people.
Can't really know until we've seen the team play, and signed some new players. Bring it on, he might be a breath of fresh air.
For this season I'm going to change tactics. Instead of backing the new manager I'm going to moan and groan about him and end the season singing his name.
On the surface it doesn't look a huge improvement but impossible to tell at this stage. As always I will judge him solely on what he does here. Just hope he's backed sufficiently in the market as we have gaps to fill.
Given you were also underwhelmed with Poch I think its important to check your record and success rate before deciding whether the under or over stimulation of your whelm can be relied on Where did you stand on Ron? Nigel? Pardew? Portaloo? WGS?
Pardew...was pleased to get an experienced manager like that in League 1. Was surprised he was sacked....obvious then how ambitious Nicola was. Adkins...no real opinion when he arrived. Like everyone was shocked when he was sacked...I appreciated how hard a job the PL was. MP...liked the look of him so was excited how he would do Exciting from the start...upset that he left half way through a job. Koeman...delighted to get such a big name. Injected confidence. Disappointed and surprised when he left...could have been our best season ever coming up. Puel...trusted the club, but generally neutral. Had bad luck, but got us into a Final. Disappointing end to season. Deserved another season but didn't excite me. MP2...reserving judgement but backing him (if it happens). Trust in club not quite so high.
I think that's the key. We don't have the benefit of the interview process and wise heads. The right man in the right place with the right resources can achieve great things. One thing we've all learned from the last year is you need a big personality to get you through the difficult times and keep the important egos in the team backing you and I'm taking it that Mauriccio's a bigger personality please log in to view this image than our Claude The name is a good start, although less impressive when translated - Maurice Pilgrim (!?!)
