Completely agree and as I say, they need disciplining, but it's no cenotaph or a shrine like that.

The kids are just little twats.

It's a memorial to the life of John Lambton, 1st Earl of Durham.

Is it a local myth or fact that his statue in Durham city was supposed to be placed inside the monument?

    It's dedicated to him.

The park bench in EastEnders is dedicated to Arthur Fowler. A shrine it is not.

No, because people don't have shrines. Its a memorial, built to commemorate him. Like a war memorial, or the Kitchener Memorial, or the Victoria Memorial outside Buckingham Palace. There would be uproar if some little twat spray painted their name on one of them.

I have no idea, I've never heard that before.

My old man told me that when I was a kid and I've heard it said since. Just not sure if it's true or not.

They are probably just kids just doing what many kids do, being arseholes. It'll wash off. Hopefully like many of us they will grow older and think back and shudder with embarrassment at some of the things that they have done as kids. A hefty fine for the parents and their X-boxes and all of their games smashed with a sledgehammer in front of their very eyes should suffice.

Well I'd be now a cripple if you were in charge of punishments. I did some stupidly dangerous things when I was a kid. One in particular, when I was 9-10 years old I was dropping stones off a bridge and smashed a moving bus's windscreen. Could have killed someone. Driver had to go to hospital for shock. Within a year or two later I wouldnt have dreamt of doing anything so brain dead. When you are of a certain age you dont think of the consequences or how your actions affect other peoples feelings. I can imagine the lads who did this just expect that their actions are harmless and someone will just have to wash it off, they dont think of the upset caused, the cost and the time wasted in order to sort their mess out. A bollocking off their skint parents and a smashed X-box will make them realise.

Knee capped from front or back?

    Front for naughty
    Back for an utter ****.

As it smashes the knee cap to bits.

From the back is more effective.
9MM round right through the back of the knee.
Lets see the ****ers walk after that.

I agree with Disco on this. Nobody has been killed, it's not sacred like a cenotaph. Kids have wrote their name on a wall, that's all it is to them.

Educate and punish them. Job done.

Was no one else a scummy, thieving little scally as a kid?

I'll admit I had a sense of respect/decency and would never have gone after monuments but my god I was a horrid little ****er.

Hormones and booze lead to stupid mistakes that we're punished properly for and learn from.

Better they're out being little hoodlums than causing someone actual harm.

I set fire to Hedworth shops. I pinched the church collection box. I used to drop stones from the bridge down on to the moving traffic.

I cringe at some of the **** now, I was a kid though.

Sort of comment that opens Billy up to retorts along the lines of what does he do with Jeremy Corbyn's cock? ;)
